Login password weirdness!

Author
Time

I got an e-mail around 15 minutes ago saying I requested a new password, which I absolutely did not. Then I had to go through two new ones just to log in.I have now added one that I will actually remember, rather than the random letters and numbers they assign you as a new one. Haha.

Anyone else getting weird notifications like this today, or recently? :p

What e-mail did you receive initially? Can you paste the contents here (not your login credentials of course)?

The password reset form lets you enter a username or e-mail address to begin a password reset. There's nothing stopping another user from entering your username, which will then send an e-mail to you. It's completely harmless because that won't reveal anything to a third party, but somebody could be probing for security holes.

Edit: Was it this e-mail?

To continue with your request for a new originaltrilogy.com forum password, please click the following link. Clicking this link will reset your forum password and send the new password to this e-mail address.

Somebody most likely entered your username into the password reset form. The forum software doesn't send e-mails spontaneously like that.

Your account should be safe, but let's keep an eye on things to be sure.

GOOD NEWS, Jay! (well, sorta)

Turns out that the re-activation I had to do at that other forum (see immediately above) was supposed to happen, due to the mods having to change the registration process because of jerks. So, no bugs at play here; just jerks wasting time so a lot of other people have to waste time. :p
