Well I'll be a monkey's uncle. I didn't believe you at first, I just couldn't bring myself to, I was sure you were mistaken. They sure are flooding the market with these damn things.

I still cannot share others optimism that this means the originals are now becoming a standard part of home video releases of SW. They are ready have the GOUT put together and ready to go, all it takes is for them to press a few more copies and include it in the set as a cheap and cheaply made bonus disc, which somehow is suppose to put these on the standards of the PT DVDs (which were excellently done) and allows them to jack up the price.

Putting the unaltered trilogy on a blu-ray however, would be an entirely different story. Some love and care would have to go into the process, and that is something I have a hard time imagining LFL doing. It is not like they can just used the LD master again, which was their quick and simple solution last time around.

I really don't see this as anymore than the company trying to squeeze a few more dollars out of something they have already gone through the trouble to create. Obviously that is what it is.

With our luck, if we do get the originals on blu-ray, it will be a beautifully done standard definition, anamorphic widescreen, dual layer DVD, and it will look absolutely stunning! But only on outdated technology... and George will be slapping his knee until it turns black and blue he'll be laughing so hard.
