There one thing i need to say about the clip though. The sound track is only temp, as with all my preview clips. These are only posted to show the visuals. The audio won't even be started until the video is completely finished. So the sound of the TIE lasers and their volume isn't a problem.
Monroville, the TIE lasers in ESB seem to take a completely different firing pattern to that of ANH. IN ANH the firing pattern was very fast but if you check out the few times that the TIE's fire in ESB they are a slower paced rate. The new TIE lasers i have added are actually footage taken from elsewhere in ESB & rotoscoped into the footage so the firing pace is the same but sometimes looped / shortened due to length. The clips i post are all NTSC so the sound is the correct speed and the lasers in the clip are the same sound fx i used for ANH:R
I'll try and answer all other things once i get a chance to read everything later.
That all may be true, but it is still off sounding at the least. Again, it is not as if I posted a comment without anything to judge it by. My previous message contained links to show exactly what I was talking about, one of which being the previous scene with the TIEs chasing the Falcon when the 3 Star Destroyers tried to corner it. In that segment, the TIE laser fire is a bit faster and has the distinct laser fire sound. All you have to do is click on the link and watch it and compare to your own to see and hear exactly what I am talking about.
Besides, to compare this with the extra AT-AT situation, wasn't the whole idea NOT to add things for the simple sake of adding them, especially if they were distracting? If the red cockpit is going to be taken out, as well as the extra AT-ATs, then why add extra laser fire when there wasn't any especially if it distracts from what was already there (some may argue with me, but it wasn't there originally and that slow laser fire and off sound effects stand out too much to the point that it distracts from the scene to me)? And regardless of whatever the pitch of the laserfire is in EMPIRE, what would look and sound best for the scene?
Here are some clips from EMPIRE to compare with your asteroid sequence:
just compare this scene (visuals and sound effects): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTp8mKFxmbg&feature=related
with this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S2CRs8PAhzg
the laserfire in the first clip may be slower than in ANH, but the sound FX in your clip is still off even compared to the first clip above (especially at 0:41 in the extended clip - maybe its just that one TIE with the Da--da--DA--da sound FX and the missing chigga/chigga/ sound FX, which you can also hear at 3:01 on the first clip)
