And Star Wars blu ray would probably be some horribly rerevised special edition of a special edition of a special edition with Jar Jar as Han Solo. Still, if the GOUT continues to outsell the PT maybe someday Lucasfilm will be motivated to give us the real thing on future formats.

amazon always puts up things like this,

it doesn't mean that it will be released,

it's basically a placeholder..

don't get your hopes up ...........yet............

Why would George bother putting out a blu ray set of the special edition 2004 set and give at least a portion of the star wars fanbase what they want.

That would be crazy giving people what they want.  Only Ridley Scott, Francis Ford Coppola, and Steven Spielberg can do that.  George Lucas, hell no not in this century.

First you have to get him to admit that the colors were screwed up, as well as the sound on star wars.  That the lightsabers were all wrong.  These wonderful creative decisions that were supposedly deliberate are a joke.

I sense great anger in you...

There hasn't been an understatement like that since General Custer said "Over on that hill, I think there are friendly indians!"

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

If "Over on that hill, I think there are friendly Indians" is an understatement, then Custer and his men must have met with some dang super friendly Indians on the hill.

Or, if that is how we define understatement these days, then "I sense great anger in you" would have to mean that skyjedi is 100% anger free, or at least is greatly lacking in the anger department. Which I agree with, I really don't see him as an angry person, nor much indication of anger in his posts. He is just another guy posting his opinions, just like the rest of us.

I've always enjoyed reading skyjedi2005's more, er... 'outstandingly indignant' opinions on certain things on this site, and have found myself to be in complete agreement with a lot of them!  As well as these more entertaining comments, he has also provided some very good ideas and informative stuff along the way too.

In fact, his contributions are some of my favourites, and I look forward to more from him.  :)

Amazon has a "email me when this becomes available" for anything out of print or not yet released. They have the same thing for the Holiday Special.

Honestly, I hope they take another 5 years on the blu-ray. It gives more time for the OOT dvd's including the new slim sets to sell. And it suggests that LFL actually might put some effort into their next release. With each year, I don't think Star Wars is as big as it once was. People will move onto other things. More people will look at online reviews and learn what the term "animorphic widescreen" is. So the longer they wait, I figure the more spectacular it will have to be to get people's attention, much less their money.

Man, we are so far away from blu-ray, I just saw ANOTHER repackaging of the 2006 discs...but in the 2004 covers. There must be a Raiders warehouse full of these things.

That would be relevent if Lucasfilm had not already released 2 films on Blu Ray, i mean ok it is 2 films nobody wants Clone Wars and Indiana Jones IV.  But to pretend Lucas does not know that Blu won the format war is ridiculous.

Does he make more money by selling the HD rights to Cinemax, HBO etc.  Than releasing them on blu ray?

He already has 1080p masters for all six star wars films, and all 3 original Indiana Jones films.

All cleaned up by Lowry and delivered to them on hardrives.

Maybe all people would get if the demand was there for them on Blu Ray, is the files dumped straight to blu ray disc as seen on HDTV but in superior resolution. But the audio and colors still messed up.

Like the gout, and 2004 special edition release.  Very little care went into the 2004 set, the 2006, or 2008 sets.

The original trilogy non special edition is still not cleaned up and still non anamorphic.  The 2004 set still has the audio and color glitches and non fixed black mattes around the ships.

I mean unless he is waiting to put them on Blu Ray after the 3D releases in theaters if that even ever happens.

He is busy working on the Clone wars Cartoon, and prepping the live action star wars series.  I think he wants to personally supervise the blu ray disc releases himself.  Or could it be he thinks like Bill Gates that HD downloads is the next big thing, and is waiting for blu ray to fail.

Perhaps like many he sees HDTV and Blu Ray as a niche market.  If this is true then star wars is being marketed to the general populace who still have 4:3 CRT tvs and dvd players.

The real problem with Amazon is that Tuskan Whole Milk is still currently unavailable! :(

If you haven't seen this before, you must check out the reviews! Hilariousness abounds! :D

LOL! Those are funny. But really- what kind of review would you write for milk?! And WHO BUYS MILK FROM AMAZON.COM? :-P

^ I especially liked the Clockwork Orange references.

I knew amazon started selling groceries a few years ago, but I just cannot imagine anyone going through the trouble to pay postage and packing on a gallon of milk. It have to be wrapped in some thermal material to keep it within a safe temperature during its travels, and gallons of milk are fragile things, doesn't take much to bust one of those suckers open. I find it hard to believe amazon ever sold that product, and if they did it is not hard to see why they no longer carry it.

Aside from the new boxed set, you mean?

Weird.  A new boxset with new packaging and old content.  And an individual of old content in an even older box that was originally in a set?  I just... wow.  I hope I run into these soon because I honestly have a hard time believing that's true (not that I doubt you, Lando).

Not that that is going to stop you from dreaming… Only in this case, Gaffer is actually a guy.

I find that to be another potentential step up. Looks like the original versions of the films are going to be a standard inclusion from now on. I mean, two releases with the same "bonus feature?" Maybe. But three now? And pimping out the fact that it includes both versions right on the front? As if they're seen as more equals, y'know, like a normal DVD release that pimps out having multiple versions of the same film in the set?

After reading "The Secret History of Star Wars," I have a different perspective on Georgie. I'm not happy about how he treats the OOT, but I kind of get the feeling now that he felt kind of hurt at how ill-recieved his prefurred versions of the films were, and as a side effect, he feels so insecure about them (because on the inside, maybe he knows we're all right) that he's hesitant to treat the OOT with the respect it deserves. Rather sad, really, that he can't see the value in them that we do.

Truly, SHOSW told me so much more about Lucas than I ever knew. Found out I've got a lot in common with him, and it really humanized him for me after seeing how much the internet villifies him. I suggest everyone read it, as it sheds a lot of light into what makes Lucas tick, it's that exhaustive.

Of course, what do I know? I loved KOTCS and although I don't really care for the PT, I don't loathe them. Now where's SkyJedi with another anti-Lucas rant?

I can live with 80% of the SE additions. I even like the PT (overall). But not releasing the OOT in respectable condition? That's unacceptable.

This has been my assumption. He's been working on the 3D version for some time now, probably too long for it to just not end up happening, and I think that also means we'll see it sooner rather than later. I still think it would make perfect sense for them to get a trailer out with the 3D version of Avatar this December, with something like "coming next year, 3D Star Wars!" Then the audience is (hopefully) blown away by Avatar in 3D and can't wait to see what Star Wars will be like.

I would really, really hope that we see the end all be all blu-ray set after that. But I do get the sinking feeling that Lucas will drag things out just like he did with dvd, opting to put only the final versions out first and then include the original versions in a later release. At the same time, I think Lucas really has so many odds stacked against him in terms of what everyone will expect with the blu-ray debut that he'll have little choice but to include the original versions, especially if the sentiments about the franchise's declining popularity are fact and not opinion.
