Terminator Salvation — Page 2

i've always liked christian bale,

(ok, maybe not so much in the batman films)..

but his versatility, and acting have always been interesting.

that's why i'm willing to give this movie a chance,

despite my misgivings about the terminator series.

Don't feel so bad negative 1 they are going to Reboot Robocop as well and will hardly do it justice, lol.

You are the one who pointed out that Iron Man was a bad rip off of both the terminator and Robocop.

I was watching some of the over the top acting by Robert Downey jr and the rediculous cgi and said to myself "  i can't believe people like this garbage piece of shit movie"

I feel the same way about the dark knight despite its stylish way of filmaking, Bale's voice and performance were poorly done, but i liked Begins so i was sadly dissapointed.  Will the third film be even worse than Spider Man 3?

Was not really impressed by T4's Trailer why is this hack not Making Charlies angels 3.  Still there is no way it could be worse than T3 right.

Things don't fit t1 or t2 continuity being expalined away by " this is not the war my mother told me about" hence reboot of the future timeline.  As stupid as jj's time travel excuse for changing things in star trek.

They want to have big terminators and explosions why make it look consistant with the first 2 films, when they can screw it up just for shits and giggles and pull something right out of the Lucas playbook.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

on a totally sideways related note..

'terminator' has been tagged for film preservation:

http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/entertainment/Terminator-to-be-Preserved-in-US-Film-Registry.html

there's a lot of other places picking up the story..

The low-budget film directed by James Cameron set a new standard for science-fiction and made Schwarzenegger, now California's governor, a star. The Library of Congress announced Tuesday morning that it's one of 25 films being added to the National Film Registry.

THANK GOD they picked the first and best movie out of the series,

and not the dumbed down/wimpy version that was Terminator 2..

good job on the people picking these films, and recognizing true

greatness when they see it..

LOL, you'd expect them to pick a sequel before the original? Has nothing to do with them preferring it over T2, or recognizing true greatness, T1 was unique, T2 was a sequel, and a damn good sequel, but still just a sequel.

BEN-HUR (1959)

BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1935)

etc etc.. granted not too many, but they're there..

Right, but I meant you are not going to see any part 2s in there without the original. You'll find Back to the Future, but not part 2 and 3, you'll find Chinatown but not The Two Jakes. In fact the only title I saw with a 2 appended to the end was Godfather II, and the first one was there as well. I just meant to say that it would be highly unlikely for them to include a sequel without the original there first. I'd think for a sequel to be on there it have to do something the original didn't do, rather than basically rehash the first one as T2 does.

Also, I am pretty sure Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein isn't a sequel to Frakenstein, if that is what you meant by listing it as a sequel or a remake.

just curious, why do you think the second was even necessary?

basically it screwed up a lot of the continuity, subtleties, and plot points

from the first one, and destroyed what the image of the 'terminator' was

down to a wimpy robot that protected john...... no, that one for me wasn't

needed either..

-1 you are a walking talking paradox. I find it hard to believe it's you who posted this message man. You who procliam that OT fans should "stop living in the past." You who say "anything that continues the Star Wars story is good." Despite what that continuation does to the characters. You seriously wonder why someone else likes a continuation of another story!?!? Really, this is just too contradictory for words.

Anyways about Terminator: Salvation I'm looking forward to it. As a fan of Christian Bale I hope he pulls off a good John Conner.

-1 kind of likes to go against the grain. If everyone hates it he'll love the snot out of it, if everyone loves it then it couldn't possibly be more over hyped and over rated.

But yeah, twister brings up a good point. For example, I don't think The Sarah Connor Chronicles is the greatest show in the world, it is certainly full of its flaws, but the Terminator story and the universe it takes place in are really interesting to me. You (-1) said in a recent post that while some of us may be fine to sit back and not have anymore Star Wars, you wanted as much as you can get, which is why you love the PT and the Clone Wars.

I guess that is how I feel about Terminator, to the point that I am really excited about this new movie and that I'd look forward to a new episode of TSSC every week while it was on, and I am looking forward to it coming back.

I do however absolutely hate T3. T2, while it was basically a rehash of part one, did something to expand the story, T3 on the other hand simply made T2 irrelevant and sucked hard while doing so.

I guess that also explains why I dislike the PT so much. I am willing to let go of SW, because I have had my fill of it. I got my first toy X-Wing when I was barely old enough to walk. I spent my childhood playing with the old Kenner action figures, reading SW comics, and playing Star Wars games on my NES and later on my dad's PC. As soon as SW books began hitting the shelves once again in the early nineties, I was there buying them and reading them. I couldn't get enough back then, and that is the Star Wars I loved so much. This new stuff hardly even resembles the movies I loved so much, and those books and those comics I used to read.

It is like a completely different series to me. Honestly I find it more annoying than I do enjoyable. To me the new stuff is so contrary to the SW I always enjoyed so much, it might as well be a remake. The Boba Fett I grew up with wasn't some stupid clone of a retard named Jango (sounds like a freaking dog's name) anymore than the Starbuck (BSG) I grew up with was woman.

yes, right, of course it's not related to 'frankenstein', it's just another

movie in the series of 'abbott and costello'....it's not their first one..

that's what i meant.

just because i LOVE star wars >>>>>>>>> terminator

doesn't mean what i says applies to everything.. i was perfectly happy

with the first terminator, and COULDNT STAND what happened in the many

other movies/tv shows/comics etc....

Anyways about Terminator: Salvation I'm looking forward to it. As a fan of Christian Bale I hope he pulls off a good John Conner.

hey, i like christian bale too (except in the 'batman' series)... thats why i

said i'll give it a chance also.... maybe a huge reboot will do it justice finally.
