Luke's lightsaber prop from SW and ESB just sold at auction for $240,000 and a 3PO helmet sold for $120,000!!!

How did these things end up at auction?? I thought Lucasfilm had all this stuff in the archives? (aside from a lot of the stuff from SW which ended up stolen).
