Yeah, I have to echo the baron on this one. "The hell??" Not to put your opinions down or anything, but you just described a perfect situation and made it sound like the worse thing in the world. Most of your conclusions are insane.

The idea of it not coming out on home video in any format is pretty unlikely, as it was a huge success. Even though I saw ROTJ in the theater, I was too young to really remember much of the experience. I grew up watching the trilogy on VHS, that was the existence of the trilogy to me. To me, Star Wars was my three VHS tapes and my box of SW figures. So it is pretty close to impossible for me to imagine them not being on home video, they have just always been that way for me. But if I take Star Wars as it was at this point in my life, a few VHS tapes and a box full of toys (think I had a couple of comic too, and I know I had the story books), and then start supposing you scenario with nothing new coming out, it sounds pretty amazing. I would still love them as much as I do, just because I always have. Hopefully they would have received a DVD release, normal nothing fancy, the movie and a few trailer, just like many of the other movies I grew up with that are now on DVD. No SE, no PT, no EU, no OT.com, all those things would be more than fine by me. To me this really would be the perfect situation in regards to SW.

I have no idea why you think we would sit around and complain about the original films just because we wouldn't have the SE to complain about. There would be no reason to complain about them, this is just you assuming that none of us have anything better to do than complain about the SE. Of course we do. The only reason any of us complain about the SE, is because we got burned with it.

It is like the little kid who's younger brother is just born, and suddenly the younger brother gets all the attention and the older kid is completely ignored. In this case his parents have some serious mental issues and go about saying the first kid no longer exists, because the second kid is so much better. They lock the first kid in the basement and keep him there until he is older, then they finally let him out, only they make him wear ugly clothes that are more than ten years out of style, and now that he has spent so many years locked in the basement he is not so well socially adjusted, things just are not right about him, and he looks really crappy and pixelated on an HD TV, because he has not received the love and attention needed. Meanwhile the younger brother is the star of the football team, gets his picture in the paper all the time, has a wall full of trophies. The parents constantly brag about him and beam with pride. When the older brother's name comes up in conversation, the parents look at the floor uncomfortably and go, "Oh, uh, yeah, him. Nearly managed to forget about him. You did have to go and bring up such a sore subject as him did you? Uh.. so... yeah, you've heard about our youngest son, right? The star of the football team? His girlfriend has just given birth to their baby, he is 100% CG and such a sweetheart, a real bundle of joy. Despite poor success at the box office, the little dear has brought new happiness to this household.

In a situation such as this, the older boy has right to be resentful towards his ghoulish folks. Those sympathetic toward him have right to feel ill of his folks for their ridiculous and unjust behavior. Had he been treated normal, then his friends and people who know him and like him for who he is wouldn't have any reason to complain or speak badly about his parents. So what if his younger brother were successful, given he was provided a normal life and not screwed over by his own parents. There would be no reason to complain about the younger brother, and no reason to complain about the parents. Let's throw the parents and the younger brother out of the equation as you have, -1. Would the older brother go about complaining about himself and his friends about him just because they didn't have the younger brother and the parents to complain about? That is absurd!

Another silly factor in this whole matter are the silly people who go around saying, "Eh, the older brother is too old, ugly, and boring. His parents were right to lock him in the basement, he was their kid after all and they had the right to do whatever they wanted with him. Now STFU!" Liking the younger brother better is one thing, and that is just fine. But justifying the parents for locking him in the basement and taking their side, that is something else entirely.

Just as a website that works to boost cancer awareness and raise money for the treatment of cancer would be unneeded if cancer did not exist, neither would a site like this one where we boost awareness of the foul treatment the older brother received and make petitions and beg that he be treated like a normal human being. The people in charge of the cancer awareness  and fund raising site are likely to be proud of their site and the effort they and their supporters have put forth, but they would be more than happy for it to have never existed in exchange for cancer having never existed. Just as we would be perfectly happy for OT.com to have never existed in exchange for the older brother never having been treated the way he has been.

So, once the older brother is released, treated as a real person, and let to live his life, we will put down our signs, stop making a fuss, and go home happy. Until then, we will continue to make our stink and stand up for the rights of our friend. They can tell us to STFU all they like, but no one will make us STFU. They can say we are obsessive, loosers, fossils, and old fools all they like, but we will continue to stand up for what we know is right. This, and this alone is why we complain and why we will not be silenced!
