I take that to mean that he will crop it the way he wants. if he got a pre-existing 4:3, he couldn't really do anything with it if he plans to show different portions of the picture.

Exactely, the only problem if I crop one side of a picture would be when there is a camera movement that ends with something on the other side (cause I still did not find a way to animate the cropping, that would add a kind of new camera movement. That would be helpful sometimes, but I think I can do the edit without it anyway.)

Just a thought, aren't there already official Pan-&-Scan releases you could use as a base?  I don't know, but merely a thought.

Aside from the fact that I could not crop what I want, I cuted the original 16:9 sources in 4or 5 parts before integrate them in the montage program (because my premiere pro 2 was really slow when I tried to work on just one full movie video as source.) So if I would use a Pan-Scan source I would need to cut the same exact parts in order to replace my 16:9 sources. And I would need to make new video alpha for my old filter etc... Well, I feel it will brings more problems than solutions.

The wish for a 4:3 treatment always comes first when I talk to someone about this version, so I thought about it and, even if it was not a priority to me, now I think that this version needs to be as different to the clean version as it can. And people that will download the 2 versions would not feel to have twice the same product.

EDIT: now I know how to animate my cropping! So I can add "new" camera movements! Of course it needs to remains subtle, and only when I don't have the choice.
