Great news, I'll be looking forward to that set too. In the meantime, the City of Prague 'trilogy' compilation isn't at all bad, despite their misfire on the crescendo of 'The Map Room'. Odd thing to get wrong...
I was looking for a CD of the Raiders soundtrack last nite (to replace my truncated LP version) and it seems that it is no longer in print?!
That’s crazy! Are there any plans to re-release it?

Concerning the newly released 'Indiana Jones:the soundtracks collection' music -
As these links were of interest to me, they may be of interest to others here too -

I was dissapointed to say the least that the new boxset is not the complete scores. Many cues are edited, the sequencing is all wrong supposedly and there is a lot of missing material.
Some fan will likely have to take the various official and non official sources to make a defintitive version of the scores. Someone like goodmusician perhaps?
Anyway i still cannot find any reviews on whether these are new restorations, reviews of the sound quality etc.
By comparsion the liner notes for the RCA release of the star wars trilogy special edition deluxe sets was exhaustive, same for the Liner notes for the film score monthly superman set.
There are a lot of films out there that if they released all the music it would fit 3 cd's so often they only do 1 and if you are lucky a double cd set.
i know the star trek the motion picture score restored expanded release is still missing a lot of alternate takes and cues.
I know wishing for a double or triple disc raiders is wishful thinking on my part. Still the film with the most missing material in the concord release is temple of doom over twenty minutes is not included.
Even the Ultimate Edition of the Phantom Menace according to goodmusician is imcomplete. Supposedly the whole score would take up 3 CD's.
The star wars boxset did not have restored releases of Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi. supposedly only later on were the original first generation masters discovered. But the boxset was just a bundling of the previous unfixed releases.
Not only does the oot of star wars the films themselves need to be restored but so don't there soundtracks, there was a lot of material simply replaced or left out on the special edition releases. Even having the anthology box on top of that still does not give you the whole scores. Lapti nek film version is still missing.

I saw this new boxed set in the Concord Music catalog that I got in the mail the other day. I was hoping it contained the complete score for Raiders, at least. All I have now are the single LPs for the first 2 films.
Well doing a boxset and not issueing them seperately as 2 disc sets pisses me off.
Those who already have Crystal Skull will end up owning it twice, and those who would prefer only the first 3 scores end up with a whole disc wasted on crystal skull that could have been used to fit some missing material from the other scores. As it is each film gets a single expanded cd release, plus 1 bonus cd in the boxset, 5 discs set. Which also have space wasted on interviews instead of filling it completely with more music.
Cheap cardboard holders for the disc holders instead of jewel cases. The booklets supposedly are scarce on info and no one has reported exhaustive Liner notes.
Sounds to me like they threw this release together rather quickly just to make a buck. Which is sadly in line with Lucas reputation these days.
I personally will have to buy the set to compare the DCC classics release i already have and the concord one. I still also want the expanded superman release, sadly that is only available in the film score monthly limited set. I absolutely adore the work Williams did with the LSO. Too bad only the six star wars films remain consistant from being all LSO scores. the only Indiana Jones LSO score is Raiders and is therefore the best of the lot. Temple of doom a fine score in its own right was scored by the Boston Pops, one aspect of the larger BSO. Some Hollywood Orchestra did Last Crusade and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Originally Kingdom of the Crystal Skull would have had more original music and have been done by the LSO, instead they made a pastiche of raiders and last crusade with a couple of new themes that were unremarkable. and Lucas cheaped out by Not going to London to have the score done there. They also elected not to shoot on location worldwide and use mostly cgi. Also the musical score was the least inspired of the 4 films and so was the movie. It felt cliched and tired, compeltely phoned in. Williams had been in semi retirement since 2005. The last scores he had done were Geisha and Revenge of the Sith.
The question is though could the guy who scored Young Indy have done better than Williams? His Music was okay on history of the blues but not fantastic. His best score of course being shadows of the empire. Of course Joel Mcneely is this mans name.

Yes, I'm really interested in owning the Raiders score on CD, and I don't really want to pay $45 for all 4. :-/
The new boxed set is a complete and total mess. Yes, we got a ton of new music...but overall, a mess.
I got it and made my own 2 disc sets from it. Now I'll probably never listen to it again.

The guy who did the edits I mentioned earlier told me a while ago that he might be doing new edits when the new sets came out.
As I'm going to make my own 2-disc sets from the box-set and other sources as well, here are previews of the covers I've made for them ("Raiders", "Temple" and "Crusade" only got fronts for now):
And here's the expanded "Skull"-score (from the JWFan.net-forums) in full size, plus backs and insides:
The back and the inside are supposed to be printed back to back on the same sheet of paper. The inside image is a little bigger than the back (so that it overlaps)... just cut along the edges of the back-cover and it should look good.

I don't think you should have the word "Expanded" on the cover of the KotCS disk, as there is no extra music presented. The content of this films's score is the same as the single released disk from last spring. No extra cues, or expended tracks at all. You should just change "Expanded" to the word "Original" on this one disk. Or do you have some music from another source on this disk?
Also, may I ask what other sources you are using for your set of the first 3 Indy films? I have the 1995 DCC Expanded Raiders, The new 4 movie set, and the original CD versions of Raiders, and Last Crusade. What more is there?

Check the back cover I've posted for "Skull"... some expanded track based on DVD-rips (some from the DVD-menus and -extras, some from the movie itself). The user "crumbs" on the JWFan.net-forum made that "expanded" version.
You should definitely have a look at the new www.IndianaJonesMusic.com, which gets updated constantly right now. Check the "spreadsheet"- and "missing music"-categories, where you can see where some extended tracks can be found (some on unofficial bootlegs, some in games, etc. ...).
Also have a peek at the Unreleased Music-thread (and other Indy-threads) over at the JWFan.net-forums, where some people have posted unreleased cues they've recorded using the original sheet-music, and a LOT more info on the soundtracks.
I'm interested to see (well, hear) the various fan projects regarding Indy scores that will be released because of this new set. I mean there's a fair amount of material available now. Raiders is completely available (to my knowledge, even if some of the tracks vary in audio quality) and a whole whack of TOD material just popped up in the Lego game. With the game rips, bootlegs and the new CD releases around, some good stuff is bound to show.
I'm so excited.
