I was dissapointed to say the least that the new boxset is not the complete scores. Many cues are edited, the sequencing is all wrong supposedly and there is a lot of missing material.
Some fan will likely have to take the various official and non official sources to make a defintitive version of the scores. Someone like goodmusician perhaps?
Anyway i still cannot find any reviews on whether these are new restorations, reviews of the sound quality etc.
By comparsion the liner notes for the RCA release of the star wars trilogy special edition deluxe sets was exhaustive, same for the Liner notes for the film score monthly superman set.
There are a lot of films out there that if they released all the music it would fit 3 cd's so often they only do 1 and if you are lucky a double cd set.
i know the star trek the motion picture score restored expanded release is still missing a lot of alternate takes and cues.
I know wishing for a double or triple disc raiders is wishful thinking on my part. Still the film with the most missing material in the concord release is temple of doom over twenty minutes is not included.
Even the Ultimate Edition of the Phantom Menace according to goodmusician is imcomplete. Supposedly the whole score would take up 3 CD's.
The star wars boxset did not have restored releases of Empire Strikes back and Return of the Jedi. supposedly only later on were the original first generation masters discovered. But the boxset was just a bundling of the previous unfixed releases.
Not only does the oot of star wars the films themselves need to be restored but so don't there soundtracks, there was a lot of material simply replaced or left out on the special edition releases. Even having the anthology box on top of that still does not give you the whole scores. Lapti nek film version is still missing.
