Wait, do you mean Grevious should be Maul, or Grevious shouldn't be Maul?

Also, am I the only one who can't read the posts at the bottom of page 2? Posts 46-50 are gone.

my point was to make the clone/storm troopers consistant.:P

so id just make the clone troopers blank.

retrofication is what we need in these really. i think ady is making the OT like X% more like the PT by bringing in viewscreens, new lasers, lightsabers, consistant evvects likr hyoerscpace etc (i think you get what i mean) so the PT needs to be retrofied X% to fit in with this. I would love to see the lightsaber fights slowed and without music, almost like crappy is better.

Maul=Grevious i would only include as a name change, nothing more. just let people figure it out or imagine why hes like he is.

how about TPM being renamed simply STAR WARS, as ANH was originally. it would make sence if we were to pretend it was the first in the saga.

Yeah, I had been working on this, and just kinda got Star Wars overkill, I had finished part 1, and nearly finished part 2.  Never even started Part 3.

Here is the link to Part 1, Anakin is eliminated completely as is the gungan subplot and battle, if anyone is interested in checking it out for ideas.  It's only 23 minutes:  http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KBPOL5KX

Maybe I'll finish up what I had been doing with Part 2, and post it for ideas if anybody is interested.

EDIT:  I guess i should add that I was really making a lot of creative decisions that may have proved impossible.  I wanted the "prequal movie" to revolve around the best actor in an attempt to save it,  and in this case, I believed the best actor to be Ewan as Obi-Wan.  Also probably the next biggest creative change which I credit to JasonN, was making Queen Amidala and Padme sisters, Amidala would actually be killed on the landing platform in Part 2.    So with that being said, the edit may actually make some sense.   The edits actually begin when obi-wan and Qui-gon stow aboard seperate ships to head to the planet's surface.

It's funny.  I just made a post in the ESB:R forum that pretty much sums up my feelings towards this proposal:

Originally posted by Rhikter:

"Yesterday, I was thinking about a complaint I had read some time ago.  Someone was arguing against the elaborately choreographed saber duels in the PT because they were not as passive as the ones in the OT.  This reminded me of a comment about "Artistic License" I made some time ago.

I bring this up because some people need to seriously consider exactly what it is they're talking about when they make arguments like this "Saber Duel" one.  We cannot think about forms of art - especially film - in a purely logical manner.  As layman as it may sound, the fact is that, if we did, movies would be extremely boring and unoriginal.  You must have a harmony between your artistic and logical vision.  Yes, the battles in the PT could have be done similarly to those in the OT, but that would not have been artistically reflective of the world GL was trying to create for the PT; that is a world where the Jedi order is thriving and at it's highest.  The elegance of the PT duels reflects this, just as the passive battles of the OT reflect a dark oppresive world where Luke received his training from an elderly Kenobi and Yoda, and Vader has asthma."

I wouldn't want to change the Clone Troopers to all white because that use of color is reflective of the all inclusive, diverse Republic as opposed to the monotony of the tyrannically fascist Empire.

No! That's just... WRONG! If anything, ANH should be called Star Wars again. Besides, the prequels shouldn't be seen first. To me, they're just "special features" for the OT.

ouch...well you may feel differently after ady tweaks with it perhaps?

Author

we should have a poll on this, ie would you watch PT then OT, or view PT as a seperate film series, or the slightly more ambitious I, IV, II, V, III, VI order.

Author
Time

If I hadn't seen any of them before I would watch them in the correct order storywise (I, II, III, IV, V, VI)

Author
Time

I bet if they had been made in that order the fact that Luke and Leia are Darth Vader's children would have been downplayed considerably in RotS so it could have more of an impact in ESB.  Or, maybe they would have given Darth Vader more screen time in the OT so as to keep "Anakin" front and center throughout the entire saga.  Oh how it is fun to speculate.

Maybe even don't show at all the anakin/Vader transformation. Anakin dies in episode 3, then there is a new bad guy in episode 4, periode.

That way the secret is not only kept for Luke and Leia, but also for the audience.

I'll never view the prequels as being related, at all with the original series because there's too many plot holes. There's, first of all, the "do you remember your mother", "yes", "but she dies in childbirth", "oh, well, i dunno lol" blunder.

Then of course there's the "he thought he should have stayed here and not gotten involved", "what? and remain a slave? gee, uncle owen sure is a dick!" blunder which is also connected to the "how can he make judgements about him leaving tatooine? he never knew him until he came back!" problem.

Then there's the "wait, nothing at all happened to my throat or lungs, why do I need a breathing mask again?" problem. Then there's the "I was trained by yoda...well, actually, i was trained by liam neeson but whatevs lol" and just the overall irreparable fail of the series. No central, identifiable sympathetic main cast and no nasty antagonist. I was ready to accept Darth Maul in that role but that didn't really work out, did it?

In full "Lucas apologist mode":

There's, first of all, the "do you remember your mother", "yes", "but she dies in childbirth", "oh, well, i dunno lol" blunder.

She talks about her stepmother (hope it's the right english word...), who is her real mother, to her, at the moment she speaks.

Then of course there's the "he thought he should have stayed here and not gotten involved", "what? and remain a slave? gee, uncle owen sure is a dick!" blunder which is also connected to the "how can he make judgements about him leaving tatooine? he never knew him until he came back!" problem.

First it's not Owen speaking but Obi-Wan ( the "point of view" man). Second, Maybe between episode 2 and 3, Owen had conversations with Anakin about how he thinks that he should stay on Tatooine, in the family.

Then there's the "wait, nothing at all happened to my throat or lungs, why do I need a breathing mask again?" problem.

Getting burned like this is not good for the lungs I think!

Then there's the "I was trained by yoda...well, actually, i was trained by liam neeson but whatevs lol"

Yoda personnaly follows young Jedi's trainning. Obi-Wan also learned from him.

and just the overall irreparable fail of the series. No central, identifiable sympathetic main cast and no nasty antagonist.

You got a point here! ;)

I always just thought that Obi-Wan was lying to Luke.  I'm sure in his mind this explanation sounded a lot better than "Your father was a whiny self absorbed bitch who was easily manipulated by a pasty old man with a fetish for cyborgs."

Lol!  But seriously, he did have to tell him something other than "Your father is Darth Vader."

We will have to see what Adywan does with ROTJ:R about Leia remembering Pandabear.

I don't have a problem with him adjusting ROTJ (when it makes sense...No spooky Hayden Christensen ghosts please) as it's almost as gone wrong (in it's current form/s) as the prequels in my book.

You could make a case for Leia (being a senator...like her mother before her) during her time in the post seeing heaps of archive recordings of Padme...ergo the images and feelings bit.

As for staying behind...yep that was a big balls up on George's part and one well within his scope of addressing in AOTC.

Maybe there is somewhere a deleted scene where Owen suggests to the pre-Sith Anakin that he should stay on the farm from now on.

But why didn't Lucas have Anakin arrive before his mother's kidnap was obvious?

She could have been out picking mushrooms, the family could have had a chin wag about him leaving the Jedi (which he seems to want to do anyway so he can get married and look after his mother) and then the news comes in about the kidnap. It would have added to Anakin's self loathing if he was just moments too late to prevent her abduction and death.

Now that is a serving suggestion beyond any fan editors ability (unless you get a fan film crew to shoot the missing material with really good look-and-sound-alike actors).

The Yoda thing gets covered in the prequels, it's a bit hamfisted but I'm Ok with Yoda being Kindergarten Jedi and Qui-Gon being Obi-Wan's Graduation Year tutor.

These are all the prequels we are going to get and Jedi is a bit of a mess, that is what fan-edits and this thread are about, making the best of what we have.

C'est la vie.

Perhaps Obi-Wan's line is ESB "The Jedi master who instructed me" could be changed to something more general along the lines of "A Jedi master who instructed me" though not as ham-fisted as my example here.

Sorry if someone asked, but is it possible to replace Sidious in TPM with Dooku? Meaning, make Dooku (seemingly) behind everything from the beginning, but we don't know who Dooku is until AOTC?

After AOTC I was hoping that Dooku was going to be right about what he said to Obi-Wan. I was hoping he was actually trying to stop Sidious, instead of just being one of his pawns. But overall I do think it would make more sense that Dooku would've been Sidious' "inside man" for longer than just some random time in between the first two prequels.

Also, just for fun, I think it would be neat if Jango's armor in AOTC was recolored to Boba's armor from the Holiday Special. Or even just to Boba's movie scheme (ESB or ROTJ.) I just think the purple looks silly, like it's too clean and cheerful. Same for Slave 1, I just don't like the color scheme. Speaking of Slave 1, why's it called that? I remember after TPM, since Anakin was a slave, one of his friends who were also slaves would turn out to be Boba down the line...

Oh, and any reference to money not being valid on Tattooine should be altered. It's an illegal gambling planet. Gangsters specialize in laundering money, they should have had no problem exchanging currency on a planet that has pod races that attract people from accross the galaxy. There were aliens IN the race who are part of the Republic. What money did they use when they got to the planet?

Wow, you just reminded me of how underused Dooku was in the PT.  While I doubt it's possible to do in a seamless way, I'd love to see more depth added to Dooku's character.  Maybe we could dub in a sound bite from, say, a book on tape, animated special, or video game in which Christopher Lee or a sound alike as Dooku talks about how incensed he was at the Jedi Order after the death of Qui-Gon.  If it's a sound alike, the voice could be tampered with t make it sound a bit more like Christopher Lee.

"There were aliens IN the race who are part of the Republic.  What money did they use when they got to the planet?"

That doesn't mean that those particular aliens were Republic citizens.

The battledroids should not talk with comedy voices, they should have far less personality IMO.

Why do they even need to talk, when they are being controlled remotely?

I dunno, perhaps just make them talk mono-tone, kind of like classic cylons ....
