I made a correction to my post here about the color saturation.

The Executor might be dark blue on the bottom and gray on the top... or it may be that the "other" command ships (mentioned in ROTJ) are not the same color as the Executor.


However, I think the blue one in the "restored" shot looks far more badass than the "screw up" that was inserted into the 1997 Special Edition "Alert my Star Destroyer to Prepare for my arrival" scene.

 

I popped in the 2004 DVD the other day to view the scene, and apart from the blue tints to everything, what really jumped out at me was the overall crappiness of the CGI in that scene. It just looks bad somehow, like the rest of the 1997 CGI when viewed through the "restored" 2004 lense. Especially that shot of the Shuttle flying past the planet, which I thought looked REALLY COOL in the theater back in '97, just looks diminished now somehow.
