Actors, directors, writers and all manner of crew and other people contributed significantly to Star Wars. Without them it would not have been the Star Wars we love. Secondly, the Star Wars trilogy is not any old film, they're classics and as classics they are works of art that are collectively owned. Legally Lucas may own them, but morally we all do.

And he mutilated this dear beloved thing that belongs to all of us. He had no right to destroy a classic. What he did was a crime.
