I love TOS, and I like what I've seen of TNG. Can't sit through an episode of it, though, C3PX? I'm saddened. I, too, enjoy the overly naval aspects that Meyer added to the movies (gotta love those double-breasted jackets!), but in some ways, a lot of episodes of the series give me the same feeling.
But I have to admit that one episode I saw last summer and liked ("The Deadly Years") was one I watched a few weeks ago and just couldn't stand. It's fun to watch them get all old, but the plot was just ridiculous. "Hey, the most important officers on this ship are getting older by the second and could die in a few minutes, so let's hold a lengthy competency hearing to find out if the clearly senile Kirk is fit for command! Let's throw in a useless romance that goes nowhere just for the hell of it. And, for no logical reason, let's cross into the Romulan Neutral Zone. I'm sure nothing bad can come of that!" Yeesh.
EDIT: Oh, and just in case Ziz is still taking my earlier posts seriously, I'd like you to meet my friend, Sarcastic Hyperbole. I'm sure you two will get along great. ^_~
