nice fisher

i came across another you tube alt ending where instead of orbiting yavin until 4th moon was in range

tarkin ordered them to blow away yavin itself

so they could have a clear shot at the 4th moon without the half hour wait

laughed my ass off! genious!

of course being a true sw fan i have to believe that the death star mk1 couldn't fire two planet destroying shots that close together
or i may suffer from a negative reality inversion!

in other news: ady would you consider adding dash randar's outrider to the escape from hoth sequence
is that still eu as it was shown anh:se?

Adyfan,

I respectfully don't see why Dash Rendar's whatever would even be on Hoth and what it would add by placing it there somewhere. Could you please explain a logical reason why it should be there because that sounds needlessly indulgent.

According to Shadows of the Empire, Rendar was at the battle of Hoth. So it's not a totally random suggestion.

But Adywan has nixed all EU stuff.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

yeah, what erik said

some of us do like the eu, and while i understand and respect ady's preference to not including any eu additions i was just really looking for clarification on whether this would still count as eu to him, as outrider was shown leaving tatooine in anh:se.

a lot of people have expressed a desire to see the escape from hoth given a touch of the battle of yavin treatment, it's just something more to look at that does have an (albiet tenuous) reason for being there - hell, ady could even destroy the ship as a middle finger to the eu if that's how he feels about it. his shout entirely as always.

I think Ady's definition is "if it's not in the film, it's EU"
Rendar (whoever he is) wasn't in ESB, so it's EU...

Unless you meant it more as a "blink and you miss it" background addition I don't think it matters anyway? It's not like it's important to the plot (far from it).

And Dash was so hot!

As far as I'm concerned, that that ship is in ANH:SE (and ANH:R) means only that a ship that looks like that is in ANH:SE/R. It has nothing to do with the canonical status of the Outrider or Dash Whatshisface. I don't mind these things as "shout outs", and don't care if Ady inserts it unobtrusively, but as far as I'm concerned that the Outrider is at Mos Eisley is no more significant than that an Imperial Shuttle is seen in Firefly.

i feel like an idiot for even bringing it up now
i just asked ady a throwaway question because i had no other questions or opinions about empire that haven't been covered many times over - to be fair it's really only ady's answer on what he considers eu i'm after - if he cares to give it (i expect it will be that he will consider it eu and disregard it)

i guess the truth is that there's so little wrong with empire that we're just looking for stuff to talk about and keep this thread moving everyday

although i posted quite a few times on anh:r, i've hardly posted on this thread but i love reading updates and hearing other fans opinions, whether i agree with them or not. it sometimes gives a new angle on a scene that iv'e watched hundreds of times, and keeps it fresh

Just added more details on what will be fixed in this edit to page 1

Fantastic!  Thanks for the latest update on all this.  While they are all going to be anticipated greatly in making this movie even better in many ways, one especially sticks out for me personally -

23. Larger blockade orbiting Hoth

This was always something that I hoped you'd look at in some way, in ANY kind of way.  I don't care how you end up adding to the overall effect here, I'm just really pleased that you are doing something here.  It will be great I'm sure. :)

@Ady,

I have been reading this thread for a while, but didn't think that I had anything to contribute until I remembered one thing...

On the AT-ATs...there are the poles that were used by the model makers to position them. I was wondering if you were going to try and get rid of them... I know it would be a ton of work, so it might not be worth it, but I thought I would mention it just in case you weren't aware of it.

That AT-AT is going to fall into that lake if it isn't careful.

44. Maybe (and i say maybe) keeping the stars spiralling as Millennium Falcon goes into Hyperspace

I like this maybe!

Glad to see you're considering it, it does look so pretty :-)

You mean those poles on the insides of the ankles?  No, those are supposed to be there, they're part of the design.

There is one shot though where an AT-AT tips over sideways, you can see the pole poking up through the ground under one of the feet to get the tip over started.

Whilst we are on the subject...

25. Bad mixture of Luke element and speeder being crushed element- I will be working on that

I feel the weight of the AT AT would crush the speeder a lot more than this shot, and i imagine the next two steps the walker takes would look very dis-jointed after that.

Also, this shot buggs me:

as the front support flipper looks like it draggs across the snow rather than taking a clean step, if you know what i mean.

And, has anyone brought up that damn snowflake on Chewies foot at all?

WHAT IS THIS DAMN SNOWFLAKE PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT?

oh yeah, and I agree.  That speeder looks like it's made outta aluminum, and it still holds its own against that whatever ton AT-AT

No idea!!

It's a running joke about how anal retentive some people get over tiny details that don't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I can't wait till RotJ when we will inevitably notice the leaf on Chewie's foot... ;op

You know, I think the speeder is being appropriately crushed. The full weight of the AT-AT is not going on it. It's not jumping on it. They just sort of bring the one leg down from a certain number of feet up. The canopy would be crushed for sure, and it is, but I don't think it would sustain too much more damage than it already does in the film. No pancaking, anyway.

Just a thought. ;)
