Hmm, instead of burning a disc, I wanted to mount the iso and copy the  .m2ts over to my PS3. However when I try to mount it, I receive the "invalid file type" error. I installed the UDF 2.5 driver, rebooted, and even tried using another application to mount the image. I still get an error message.

I'd rather not go buy a stack of DVD 9's just for this; So does anyone have any idea's what I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

I did this last night and it works perfectly.  Now admittedly I had already burnt a DVD9 of this release but I 'opened' the disc on my PC, coppied and pasted the folders onto my PC's HDD.  I then navigated to this through my PS3 using Windows Media Player 11 sharing, pressed the green triangle and coppied the files onto the PS3s HDD.

It plays perfectly straight from my PS3 HDD.

Next step is to bypass the need to physically burn a DVD9 and I'm guessing that something like ImgBurn will do the trick.  Set to output files rather than burn I would imagine.  Going to try that this evening.  If it works, I can see a PS3 HDD upgrade looming fast!

I'm no expert and will happily be proved wrong on this but I'm fairly certain that the FAT32 4GB max file size only prevents larger files from being read or copied when connecting an external HDD to a PS3 via USB.

I cetainly managed to copy ANH to my PS3s HDD last night via media streaming (over a wired connection - PC > router > PS3) and it played perfectly striaght off the PS3 HDD this morning although I only watched the first 20 minutes!

I have other 9/10GB files (VOBs) on my PC that stream fine to the PS3 over WMP11.  I am going to try the same technique of copying them diretly to the PS3 HDD later....

Are you sure the internal PS3 HDD is FAT32? Would be such a waste if you exchange your HDD to a 250gb...

The PS3 HDD uses a proprietary, encrypted file system, not FAT32. In order to read an external drive, it must be FAT32.

As for streaming larger files, you wouldn't run into the 4GB size limit even if it were for the main HDD itself, since you're streaming the file.

That explains why I can stream larger files from my PC or copy them via streaming direct to my PS3 HDD.

Indeed, there is no such limit on the PS3 hard drive itself.  I've copied 4+GB files onto DVD-RW (UDF mode) and transferred them to the HD easily.  I also had a 6GB file I copied from my comuter to the PS3 successfully (took a LONG time over wireless).  And yes, they are readable and watchable!

Although I haven't done it myself, I suppose one could separate out the m2ts file from Ady's release, copy just that to a DVD-R DL (UDF), insert the disc into the PS3 and copy it to the hard drive in that manner.  This would, of course, waste a disc.  But out of convenience, the film would be on the HD ready to go at any time!

O.T. or No T., baby!

Love the HD version of New Hope. It works great on my Panasonic BD player. What's the status of the next HD release?

I'm having trouble unpacking the .rar file. I don't plan on burning this to DVD, so how do I watch on my computer? I've ddownloaded several torrents before and hnever had trouble unpacking them. Is there a specific program I need for this, or can it only be burnt to disc?

wait, it's rar'ed? no, winrar, should work fine..

you should end up with some kind of .iso image

then burn the .iso to disc, or unpack it to get the .m2ts file,

and play that.

if you have a regular ISP, you should have newsgroup access included,

(although some recents ones are discontiniung all their newsgroups access.)

check with them first, you may already have access, i do, and its slow, but

it works..

why don't you try this : 3 day free trial

https://secure.giganews.com/signup/

just get the files, and close the account...

by the way, there are people seeding the finished torrents, so i'm not sure

by what you mean 'slow'? it depends on how fast your internet account is..

Just had to say so after seeing it pop up for a few posts now... sorry.
