the debris I tried to add does give it the ms paint feel. I said it was quick and dirty.  I did add some battle damage and distorted the transport.  I never claimed to be a photoshop expert.  The point was to see if that shot could have blown up rebel ships in it.

I like it.  Actually, the picture looks pretty bad, BUT I like that porkinsred6 did something about an idea he had.  We need more of that here.

Please, DON'T kill off Veers. While I think "original ideas from the screenplays" are probably the least objectionable things to add, I don't think that just because it was an original idea means it has to go into the film.

I think it's great that we don't know the fate of every single character in the series. Not everyone has to be killed on-camera, and the Rebels do enough as it is. I always liked the "exploding head" on the AT-AT.

Don't modify the Ion Cannon... it's the first and only one we see in the series. Turning it into some sparky effect or changing it is just stupid and unnecessary.

The Imperial presence at Hoth doesn't need to be increased, because the Rebellion is small... the Empire DIDN'T send their entire force to crush the Rebels there, because they didn't need to! If anything, the rest of the Imperials were patrolling the rest of the galaxy. Besides, if we expand the presence too much in ESB, it'll diminish what we see in ROTJ (which still wasn't the entire force).  ESB was just supposed to be showing us a lean, elite group of Vader's that was going to find Skywalker.

I'm for minimal changes to ESB. Other than fixing color gaffes and Special Edition excesses, is IS "danged near perfect" already. Splicing in the ROTJ Emperor in the hologram scenes with the original lines is one change I agree with (so long as it doesn't look too obviously recycled).

But trying to throw in Prequels references, "extend" the battle, and so forth is just fanboy-service, it won't fix or improve the film. If Adywan wants to put some stuff like that into "deleted scenes" on the disc, that's cool, and the fanboys can make their own edit to splice that into the film itself. But he made the right choice with putting say, the "extended Alderaan destruction" into a deleted scene instead of the movie proper.

Recoloring all the ships and blasts just seems pointless. Why does ESB have to change to match some other source or interpretation?

Too many people I think are going off on how many unnecessary things they can get inserted into the film.

Lucas himself did this with ANH and ROTJ, but he made the fewest unnecessary changes to ESB. The ones he did do tended to stick out as stupid.

The thing I looking forward to the most is fixing the bad color "correction" with the blue saturation, fixing the sabers, fixing the reused background plates (like the ones behind the Falcon and the Slave 1 on Cloud City) and cleaning up the matte work.

I think we all need to realise that Adywan will make the changes he wants to make, not the ones we'd like to make. I agree that recent posts have started to sound very Lucasian in their approach - 'let's stick more of these in and ram home the fact that they're doomed' or dropships, debris etc.

Let's stick to the basics - ESB needs very little work save a great colour correction and minor additions and it'll be worthy of Empire magazine's 3rd place accolade in the Filmmaker's All-Time Top 500.

PS I'm with Hotrod though....that snowflake on Chewie's foot needs to go - it's even in the space slug sequence! :p

Why do we always have these reminder posts from those who are afraid of too many changes in ESB? Come on, this is Adywan we are dealing with here....he is going to do what he wants and doesn't want to do, no matter what is said here. Let people express their ideas and opinions, that's what this post is for......but in the end, Adywan is in control, and he does a great job of filtering through all of the ideas, and deciding what is best for ESBRevisited. So keep the ideas coming, a good one might come up now and then.....peace...

Exactly. I think you guys are forgetting the scale of some of the changes in ANHR

Which is exactly what we did. We just want to make sure that between all the Lucasifications the more purist opinions are represented as well. I for one wouldn't want to risk getting a torturedroidlightsaber again...

I loved that addition. If you really want Purist get Ady's color corrected SE and cut out some of the SE bits you don't like

Urm, hu, haa. Shut up Nohand and Michel Jackson Pollard.

Martin John Pollard, actually. Unlike some, I don't believe in hiding behind an alias when I tell people to shut up. ;-)

Me neither. My real name is in the credits of Star Wars Revisited for all to see.

Nitpick - Light can be seen bleeding out from under R2's dome in this shot.

I didn't like the mini-lightsaber change either (it seems more like a fanboy joke), but my handle is in the credits, and I feel like I contributed in a small way, by contributing to the Great Flipper Debate of '08 which eventually resulted in the (far superior, and accurate) "severed hand." ;)

I will confess that the bloody paw always looked cool, it just didn't make any sense (continuity wise).

Again, I think we're expressing all our viewpoints to prevent giving the impression that everyone here thinks we need to shoehorn in as much experimental stuff as possible.

I think Adywan's edits WILL inspire people who want to just tinker with the movies to add more stuff. I really see this as a fan service to get GOOD QUALITY versions of the movies released... the kind of Special Editions Lucas SHOULD have given us from the beginning.

I'd have to look to someone else to give me a true restoration/preservation of the original films (and these can never take the place of those, though for me they will take the place of both SE's).

With the changes Adywan make to the introduction of the Death Star scene, the Falcon vs. Tie battle, and the battle of Yavin IV, I think the guy is more than capable of adding a few rebel transports and a few one man ships (like X-wings and Y-wings) getting taken out on and above Hoth.

Yes, ESB is near perfect. However, one has to admit that it looks like a total of five or six rebels die in the battle.

It just isn't realistic. IMO, Adywan definitely seems to want consistency, continuity and dare I say it, a sense of realism.

I base this on his stellar work on ANH. If changes beyond the basics aren't made here, all that was for naught.

I just checked the list here. Post one.

Call me crazy, but that’s a lot issues that appear to need fixing. We not even talking additions for the most part here, merely fixes.

There seems to be quite a number of fans who appear to have issues with this so-called "perfect film."

Now don't get me wrong, I love it. But to say it doesn't need the same kind of polish Adywan gave to A New Hope is downright ludicrous.

Adding the electric lightsaber effect to the torture droid's needle in SW:R.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

I'm sure he'll get to it.  He is focusing on the colour correction now and will take care of the effects in the next step.

This one.  Aparrently people didn't like it.  I thought it was more threatening than a needle, as afraid as I am of needles.

I never really thought of that as a mini-saber.  The electricity he had arching over it made it look different.  And painful.

I guess I should have been able to figure that out myself, the saber reference through me off.
