Kind of off topic, but since the discussion of me not liking anime took place in this thread, I figured it should be the place for me to announce that I finally found one I am really enjoying. There is an old anime from the late seventies, call Remi or Sans Famille, or in Japanese "Ie Naki Ko", it is based on the novel Sans Famille by a French writer named Hector Malot. My wife used to watch an Italian dub of it on TV when she was a kid (apparently they used to air crap loads of anime in her country). There has never been an English dub the best I can tell. Recently I found her the entire run of the series on DVD in Spanish (couldn't find it in Italian, but she knows Spanish too, so no big deal). I have been watching it with her, and I am really enjoying it. It is obviously not adult level anime and intended for kids, but it has some pretty heavy themes to it.

Even though I am a big Sci-fi fan, I think I'd be more prone to enjoying anime that is not sci-fi. Perhaps it is too science fictiony for me. I know a lot of classic books have been adapted to anime cartoons, if they were easier to find, I think I would really enjoy them.

They did a Star Wars manga several years back, I still think it would be really cool to see a Star Wars anime series. That would be something I'd set my recorder for every week.
