So, I played Spore. It is pretty cool but it gets lame at some parts. I would of like the cell part of the game to be longer and for being a newer game it worked just fine on my Macbook.

Since i have not played the Full Force Unleashed game maybe those scenes were flashback scenes when he was a good guy before being taken on as vaders apprentice after vader killed his father.  I don't know if when he was a boy and a jedi padawan having a blue saber would make sense.  But if it is when he is older working for vader it makes little sense.  Unless he is doing a contract killing or something and wants it pinned on the Jedi only sith use red sabers.  Maybe a red saber would draw suspicion on Vader. Only Vader and the Emperor are the Sith left alive in the universe.

I dont believe so. If you re-read the quote from the review, it states "Unforgivable is the Secret Apprentice wielding a blue lightsaber during multiple cut-scenes yet using a red one in the gameplay segments surrounding those scenes." If you think about cut-scenes they often are in direct relation to what is being played. So if you take what the reviewer has said it sounds as if the cut-scenes are taking place during the gameplay. Its still possible that the cut-scenes are from flashbacks but the way the reviewer talks it seems as if its a blatant folly on Lucasarts part, and with the track record, I would not give Lucasarts the benefit of the doubt.

Hah, that's what my girlfriend said as well. She also thinks the simulation aspects of the game are too easy. The best part is making your creative designs apparently. Don't even know if I'll be getting the game now (when I upgrade my computer).

Well, I just spend the last forty minutes playing the PS2 version of The Force Unleashed. It really isn't as bad as it could have been (at least the PS2 version), but really isn't all that great either. Since the PS2 is the lastest and greatest console I own, and since not a whole lot of new games come out on it, it is kind of cool to have something new and entertaining for that system.

It is really just a button masher, played it for forty minutes and never once worried about my life bar, seemed like it was pretty much always full, just ran around pressing buttons and killing people until I got bored and shut it off. So far the storyline is about ten times more entertaining than anything in the prequels. It was really cool that the opening level depicted Darth Vader actually hunting down Jedi, something I really had always thought we'd get to see in the PT. The idea of him having a secret apprentice with the name Starkiller who he uses for hunting down Jedi so he doesn't have to do it himself is all kind of lame. Believe it or not, it really does feel slightly reminiscent of the older LucasArts titles; for some reason it really brought back memories of Tie Fighter, simply because you are going around killing Rebels, also reminds me a lot of Jedi Outcast for obvious reasons, though it is not half as fun as either of those games.

And I cannot believe how good it feel to see some damn Stormtroopers again! So sick of Clone Troopers... Seeing OT style Imperial Crusers, Tie Fighters and other ships adds a lot of coolness to it.

The visit to Kashyyyk was cool, since in the PT all you get to see of the planet is a cartoon like CG blur.

On the other hand, I played a few seconds of the Nintendo DS version, and it absolutely sucked, like most DS games do. The stylus is the dumbest form of control imaginable. If you could use the buttons, and the DS has plenty of buttons to go around, I think it would have been a lot more fun. But tapping the action you want to do with the stylus is pretty retarded.

So anyone played any of the real versions of this game, for PS3 or Xbox?

I've heard nothing but slightly-above-average things about Force Unleashed. Which is pretty much exactly what I was expecting.

What? Another Star Wars game came out? Oh. ::yawn::

Not just another SW video game, this is sort of Shadows of the Empire II as it were. It has a novelization, a role playing game, action figures, comics, a making of book, and a version for every current system. Only thing it is missing is a soundtrack and topps trading cards.

With the last so called "Star Wars multimedia project" which was Shadows, the central bit of media seemed to be the book. In this case, it is obvious everything is aimed at selling the games.

Speaking of Shadows of the Empire, did anybody ever play the PC version? I'm trying to hunt it down, and I was wondering if it was much different from the N64 version.

I own a demo that has the Hoth level and a few others (the Hoth level is the only level in the game that was worth playing). From what I remember, it was exactly the same except for smoother graphics. I didn't play the N64 version much though (didn't own it).

Are you kidding! That whole game is well worth playing, again and again and again and again... which is exactly what I have been doing since it came out, that game never gets old to me, not sure how many times I beat it, but I still absolutely love it.

Funny that you mention hunting down the PC version, I just came across it and obtained it a few weeks ago after years of searching (literally, it tends to be pretty uncommon, even on ebay last time I checked). The PC version is exactly like the N64 version. Instead of the animated cutscenes of the N64 version, the PC version has 3D cutscenes with voice acting. Other than that the levels are the same. Actual in game graphic really are not much better from the N64 version as far as I can tell.

Megaman 9 is coming out soon for the PS3 and Xbox 360 and is already out for the Wii. It has really good reviews.

Wow, it has taken all this time to make it to Megaman 9? Made it all the way to six back in the NES days, and all the way to 8 with the SNES and PSX, can believe their has not been a numbered Megaman game since then. At the rate they were going before, I'd guess they were somewhere around Megaman X 20. I use to love Megaman when I was a kid, the last one I ever played was Megaman X 2 for the SNES. Lost interest after that.

Wow, random memory just poped up in my head! When I was in the second grade, I was at the park with a blue sock on my arm minding my own business and pretending I was Megaman, when an older kid came up and punched me in the face for no reason.

Wha good PS1 games should I get? I want to get MGS the most, my brother has a few I want to borrow. What else is there?

I didn't own a PSOne until a friend gave me his right after he got his PS2. Excitedly, I went out and searched the web for the highest rated PSX games in order to know what to spend my money on. These are the ones I have found worth buying:

Tomorrow Never Dies (absolutely sucks, but being a Bond fan, I really enjoyed it)

Oddworld: Abe's Oddyssey

Oddworld: Abe's Exodus (both are good fun and challenging side-scrollers released in an age when the side-scoller was obsolete, which adds to the coolness)

Metal Gear Solid (there is a boxed set released earlier this year containing the first 3 MGS games, 1 for PSX, and 2 and 3 for PS2 for around $30, definitely worth it)

Tony Hawk's Pro Boarder (good mindless fun, gets old eventually, good game in its time, pretty dated now though)

Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2 (being a long time fan of the Spider-Man comics, this game was a dream come true, the web slinging was fun, and it was chock full of references to the comics and Marvel easter eggs. The second one wasn't near as good, but still fun. Predates the movies)

Resident Evil games (old news by now, but I still think they are a lot of fun to play. Great classic B movie feel to them)

Episode I: The Phantom Menace (piece of crap actually, horrible graphics, but it was kind of fun going around with a lightsaber and slashing up droids, levels where you play as Jar Jar are unforgivable though. I heard Jedi Power Battles was another fun TPM inspired lightsaber slash em up game, but I have heard from other sources that it sucks some serious balls)

The City of Lost Children (I just thought it was great that that movie had a game based on it, bought the game and never made it out of the first room, uh, so.. yeah, I guess I can't really recommend it)

Skull Monkeys (I obtained this one from somewhere, but I still have never played it, I really liked "The Neverhood" for PC back when it was released, so obviously I needed to own its sequel. Not quite sure why I never played it)

There are plenty of "must play" games on the system that I have never played (Final Fantasy and a few that PSX fans used to worship back in the day). I was an N64 and PC guy back in those days, I always felt, and still do feel that the original PlayStation was pure shit. The graphics were way behind its time, load times sucked and this problem only grew more severe as your system aged. N64 games looked a zillions times better in comparison, though the N64 suffered from a very small library of games, the few good games it did have were REALLY good. The PS2 on the other hand, tough still under powered compared to its contemporaries, was one of the most amazing systems ever made IMHO.

Yeah. There are a some worthwhile games on the PS1, but the vast majority of them have superior versions on other systems. The only PS1 exclusive I'd consider a must-play game is Final Fantasy 7. Jedi Power Battles is definitely not worth the effort of tracking it down.

The other mega-huge PS1 game, Symphony of the Night, was ported to the XBoxLiveArcade last year and from my understanding runs much better off a hard-drive than a PS1 disc.

ARGH!

I'm SOOOO ticked off!

In Half-Life 2 episode 2 for the X-Box 360, there's an achievement called "Little Rocket Man" in which you have to carry a lawn gnome from the start of the game to the end and put him in a rocket to send him in to space.

I did this. I carried him all the way to the end of the game.

And I didn't get the achievement because you have to SHUT THE DOOR of the hatch you put him in. And I didn't know that.

ARGH!

c3, you never play as JarJar in episode one.  Least, not on the PC.

It has been a long time since I played the game, I guess you have to chase Jar Jar through the jungle or something stupid like that. Something that heavily involved Jar Jar and took place in a jungle, that is what I remember.

Well, you're right.  My opinion on the game?  Warez, don't buy.  It's fun, if you're really bored.

Mos Eisley level rocked.

I always like killing Anakins mother when he leaves with you with that there wouldn't be an episode 2. Jedi Power Battles just sucked it was too easy to die. But I bought MGS and it is coming today. Well back to MGS4.

The Mos Espa and Boonta Eve levels of Episode One were cool because you could go around as Qui Gon or Obi Wan or whoever and literally kill just about everyone in the city.

Pulled out my N64 the other day and plugged her into the tube. Think I am going to tackle some of my good ol oldies. Spent a few hours playing Perfect Dark, man, that game is still a hell of a lot more fun than the vast majority of games I have played in the barely less than ten years since it came out. I still feel sorry for all those people who never owned a Sixtyfour because they felt it was a kids toy, and instead hung tightly to the PSX. The 64 had many exclusive games that were just amazing, while the only exclusive PSX game that was really worthwhile was probably Final Fantasy. Most others were availible on PC and with much better graphics too.

When playing games like Perfect Dark, Conker's Bad Fur Day, and Resident Evil 2, it is amazing to see what they could do with one of those little gray cartridges and an aging console there towards the end of the 64's life.

I have pulled out a handful of cartridges I plan to play may way through over the next few months. The games I am going to tackle are:

Perfect Dark

Goldeneye

Conker's BFD

Star Fox 64

Rogue Squadron

Shadows of the Empire

maybe Turok

and since I recently played through Resident Evil DS, I might try to tackle RE 2 on the 64, but that is a long game that I only find fun for short intervals.

C3PX, i may just be in love.  Lots of people say that the n64 was terrible, but it seems you and I seem to still like it.  It had some bad games, but it also had really good ones.  It's one that I usually keep plugged in.

Oh, the N64 was a brilliant system! Down right amazing. It had way more power than its contemporaries. Anybody who owned one knew the brilliance of the system, but those who did not missed out on a lot. Back in the day we had so many debates over why one console was better than the other. The PSX had it beat in two major places, the PSX was easier and cheaper to develop for, and thus had a vastly larger library than the 64. As far as number of titles, the PSX won that hands down, the 64 couldn't even pretend to be competition from that standpoint, which was unfortunate for it. The other area that the PSX had it beat hands down was capacity, the PSX disc had a whopping 600mb from the beginning (though it rarely used anywhere near that much space except when it was chock full audio and video), while the N64 cartridges only had 64mb. Which makes it even more amazing that so many 64 games looked so impressive while PSX games always managed to look like pixelated crap. PSX games also had the ability to contain full motion video and CD quality audio, which the N64 could barely dream of ever doing (to see how that dream eventually turned out, take a look at the port of Resident Evil 2, two whole compact discs compressed onto one cartridge and it managed to look even better than it did on the PSX, too bad they only managed to do this when the console was on its death bed).

When you take a look at amazing games like Ocarina of Time, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark and many others, and consider them in light of the consoles limitations (mostly due to the small cartridges), any arguments for the PSX being the superior machine fly out the window. While the N64 had a shamfully small library on account of the difficulty the cartridge system cause developers, the good games it did have were really good and lightyears ahead of anything on the PSX.

As mentioned before, most really good PSX games also had a far superior PC version.

The controller was also wonderfully unique, while the PSX controller was basically the same sort of thing all previous consoles had, the N64 controller really went all out to do something new, and obviously they did something right because the PSX redid their controllers with analogue sticks, and most controllers since then have gone with an analogue stick similar to the 64's. The "rumble pack", like the analogue stick, was another idea that began a new trend in console gaming. Everybody uses a vibrating controller now, having stolen the idea from the rumble pack.
