no i'm not using the HV encodes at all. They were taken from the sky broadcast which wasn't very good quality and had glitches. I gave up using them as a source at the beginning of the project. I'm using the original 16gb german broadcasts (i only need to get hold of AOTC & ROTS). x264 is a miles better compression format than MPEG2 so compressing them to a DVD-9 is an almost negligable quality drop than the originals and at least with the AVCHD's you don't have to stream them from the PC so you can watch them in 1080p instead of 1080i (which most HD video PC cards output)
