I thought the goal of this site was to get the original versions of The Star Wars Trilogy Epiosdes 4,5, and 6 on DVD and blu-ray. But the feeling I get from a lot of people some are nagitve towards Mr. Lucas. he made these films after all. Insted of bashing Lucas and trashing the 2004 dvd sets like most people on this site constanly do we need to get back to the goal of getting the original versions of The Star Wars Trilogy Epiosdes 4,5, and 6 on DVD and blu-ray. That's all of us star wars fans want after all the originals on dvd and blu-ray. That's the message that needs to be heard and not so much nagativity.

And how do you suppose we go about doing this?  I feel that the 2006 "Bonus Discs" were a direct result of this website.  If we cry that they need to release the original versions, they'll say "We already did, buy it."

If the Star Wars movies make it to Blu Ray before the format ends (whenever that may be), I won't buy them unless its an all-encompassing record of every release, audio track, bonus feature, commentary, and what have you, like the Blade Runner set.  It would be pointless to have the 2004 versions again.

The format war ended  back in febuary if you'ved read tech or dvd news lately blu-ray is the winner of the format war. And I agree with you include all the versions of the original trilogy that exist for exsample: 1977 Orginal Theatrical Cut, 1981 Re-Release , 1993 Laserdisc Release, 1997 Special Edition, 2004 Speical Edition, and The final, final release of the film. Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back: 1980 Orginal Theatrical Cut, 1982 Re-Release , 1993 Laserdisc Release, 1997 Special Edition, 2004 Speical Edition, and The final, final release of the film. Star Wars Episode VI Return Of The Jedi: 1983 Orginal Theatrical Cut, 1985 Re-Release , 1993 Laserdisc Release, 1997 Special Edition, 2004 Speical Edition, and The final, final release of the film. Whould you include those versions on blu-ray? What do you think star wars fans? Coment on this and ask me what whould you want to see on the blu-ray releases for the star wars trilogy episodes 4, 5, and 6.

I would just wait for ADYWANS edits of Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi and the prequal trilogy when he does those and use them as your collection before i ever buy another Star Wars set again.

Look I know nothing about fan edits. And I don't know how to do them.

The original goal of this site was to get the theatrical versions of the Star Wars Trilogy on DVD.  The means that this site used to accomplish this was through an online petition that readers can sign.

Incidental to the petition, this site also has a great forum where members can yak about what they like or don't like about Star Wars, or talk about other movies or what ever topic they want.

Regular posters on this site often display a love/hate opinion towards Mr. Lucas.  That's because yes, he made the OT, which we love.  But he also mutilated it, which we hate.  SW is one of the few all-time great movies that cannot be had in its original academy-award-winning form, and that situation can only be corrected by Mr. Lucas. Doesn't that frustrate you, just a little?  Shouldn't important cinematic history be preserved?  I know he has the right to do what he wants... but I would imagine that a lot of people would have been perturbed if DaVinci had gone mad and decided to change his Mona Lisa into a yak.

We're perfectly entitled to air our grievances. Great art was mutilated, and crap was put forward as being a rightful part of a great fiction saga. These are real greivances that should aired. It is not "negativity". Negativity is accepting what Lucas has done to Star Wars or telling people they can't criticise what he's done. On various Star Wars sites fans are banned or silenced for daring to criticise the Special Editions and the prequels. This is a refuge where people can criticise.

The idea is that George Lucas still changed the movies many of us love/grew up on. We have every right to not be happy with the way that things have happened. Also, if you have an HDTV and put the bonus disk in, it does not fill the screen....going foward this will become a problem for those of us who wish to watch the true Star Wars and not the aweful 2004 ones.

The fact is that in 2006, in a world where we now had high-definition video discs (hddvd and blu-ray), George Lucas literally gave us 1993 quality transfers of the star wars trilogy and acted like he was doing us a favor.

A favor, it was not.  An outright slap in the face for fans of what started it all, it was.  On this, most all of us agree.

Yes, this is exactly how I feel - then (2006) and now. Betrayed by Lucasfilm after years of devotion and buying SW products. The "bonus discs" were just a big middle finger to long-time fans.
