But why should we be happy with a product that has so many problems? The sound is all messed up with the music in ANH coming from the wrong channels. Sound fx are coming from the incorrect speakers, The colour on ANH & ESB is beyond bad and is a joke. It was a rushed & botched set of DVD's but Lucasfilm deny that there is anything wrong with them even when the evidence is presented to them. They just spout crap like " it was a creative decision".
It may be 4 years since they originally came out but look just how many re-releases there have been. They released the original theatrical versions as a bonus disc so if we wanted them we had to buy the 2004 set again, but still no fixes. then it turns out that the Theatrical versions were lame ass laserdisc transfers that weren't even anamorphic so look terrible on a 16:9 tv.
I have spent a lot of money on Star Wars products since 1977 so i think i have the right to complain about the crap Lucasfilm is pushing at us now and i will continue to complain until Lucasfilm admit what an abortion the 2004 transfer is and fix the problems with the transfer and also release the pre SE theatrical versions in the highest quality of todays standards.
You may be happy with just how crappy the 2004 set is but you are certainly in the minority, and not just on this board.
