ok a bit of an update. Things seem to be going ok now. I've added the laserdisc audio along with English, dutch & french subs. Now the laserdisc audio is set as the main one and i ahve taken out the alternate audio mix, which i will explain why in a moment. The foreign subs i downloaded so i can't guarantee they are correct  and the timings may be slightly off because i had no way of checking them.

Ok the reason i put the laserdisc audio as the main one is that i have made a decision about which direction i am going with these AVCHDs to make them different to the ones already available. Well i have decided to make these the Theatrical versions and not the 2004 versions (apart from ANH because of removing Greedo shooting & a couple of other changes done in the 2004 transfer which i didn't replace.) So it makes sense that they will all have the laserdisc audio as the main because these (i think) were closer  to the original  theatrical audio, if not the actual theatrical mix. All apart from AOTC & ROTS because there were no laserdiscs of these. So that means that ESB will have the original Emperor returned, ROTJ will have Sebastian Shaw replacing Hayden and the Naboo shot will be removed, and TPM will also be the theatrical version with the laserdisc audio. Now i decided to take out the alternate mix because i won't be doing one for the others and i want to keep this set as consistent as possible. also the glitch seemed to be with the audio and not the video. Now the laserdisc audio hasn't got such a great surround sound as the 2004 mix

So i will update the first post with the new specs as soon as i can

First, thank you for the English subtitles, always prefer watching my films with it. Second, it will still include the commentaries? Here is an interesting discussion on Laserdisc audio vs Blu-ray audio:

Third, thanks for all this, YOU ROCK!!!

This looks comparable to WG's releases with the obvious advantage that they'll play straight away from a Blu-ray player.

I plan to download it from alt.binaries.starwars as well so I can help seed too.

Hi adywan!  Thanks for doing this.  The sample and screenshots look incredible!  I am really looking forward to the finished product.  Please don't rush it and make sure you are happy with it before uploading because I am sure this will be by far the best release out there for a long time.

I am not sure I understand why the newer AC3 track is an issue, but it would be cool if there was a way to make it available along with the Laserdisc (if there is any advantage over the newer AC3) and commentary tracks (as long as having that many tracks doesn't take away from the picture quality ; you could uber-compress the commentary track if it helped).  I am guessing the cuts for Greedo are causing the issue, but I have no idea.  Anyway, I will be extremely happy with just the picture difference alone and the sound is just gravy.

I signed up with a news service just for this!  Can't wait!

Thanks!
Mike

A quick question about Blu Ray file structure: Is the main feature (ie. the movie) usually incoporated whole into a single .m2ts file?

I ask because my Popcorn Hour played back the .m2ts sample files (networked from my PC) just fine and, as long as the entire movie is contained within a single file, I think I'd prefer to watch these releases this way, as opposed to burning them to DVD and playing them back in my BD player.

TIA.

Media Player Classic is able to play the m2ts file as well.  So the files can be played pretty easily from a HTPC.

Love my A-100. That's how I plan to play these movies.

Is it possible to add more audio-tracks to your encoded stuff? With MPEG2 it's not too difficult - de-muxing and re-muxing - but do BluRay-compatible discs allow this as well?

I really wish there were German audio-tracks on these...

Looking forward to this for a while now!!! Are there any 'Free' servers that have A.B.SW and allow downloading? I know, I know, I'm cheap. But I dont use usenet enough to warrant a subscription. I'll BT this file when available if i have to.

Thanks for all the hard work Ady, we Star Wars fans really appreciate it!!

Astraweb you can pay by the drink if you want. 25 GB is only $10 and you can use it as slowly as you want.

Thx Dumb_kid....I just checked and they have 110GB for 25 bucks. I might run that route!

Astraweb's service is outstanding. They're up to something like 150 days retention now and  110GB for 25 is a steal.

I'm sure I'll sound like a broken record, at least to Adywan, but would there be any NTSC/PAL issues with these? I know Blu-Ray is region free, but these would be on DVD-9s, so...? Sorry, but at least if you tell me now, I won't have to ask again. :p
