Mielr that was awesome! Thanks for digging that up; I had no idea it existed.
I found this on YouTube last night. I recorded this on audiotape when it aired in 1983, and listened to it over and over again! Just before Return Of The Jedi was released, Siskel and Ebert dedicated an entire show to the Star Wars Trilogy. It's an interesting analysis of why the original Star Wars films were so successful:
.....and their promised ROTJ review which aired just a few days before it opened:
Oh to remember the days when star wars was three pretty good movies, those films that were fun and had a sense of magic to them. Before the dark times before the gout. Before George Lucas and star wars were the punchline in every joke on the internet.
“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

Here's some more Jedi-themed retro fun for everyone, (after all, it IS still the 25th anniversary of ROTJ).
This is a report on some of those kooky, kooky fans standing in line to see Jedi on opening day including a couple who got married in line - dressed as Han and Leia, of course:

Another report (I can totally relate to that kid who said his parents let him skip school that day- mine did too) :

Toys, toys, toys! A news report on the opening of ROTJ and the related toy sales:
Thanks for all these clips. I've watched them all.
I was only two at the time but I certainly remember all those toys and walking through those toy aisles. Well maybe a year or two later.
This kind of stuff reminds me why I like these movies so much. And of course I love ROTJ.
"Well here's a big bag of rock salt" - Patton Oswalt
Here's a couple more- these are from Jeffrey Lyons and Neal Gabler (they're the two that took over 'Sneak Previews' when Siskel & Ebert left to do 'At The Movies').
Part two is especially interesting, because it features exclusive interviews w/ Richard Marquand and Tony Daniels:
