I wasn't asking Adywan to do anything. Adywan has already expressed his own dislike for 'Jedi Rocks' and I was just echoing dumb_kid's likewise statements.
Ady has already said that he's removing Hayden Christiansen from the finale, so I don't think there's anything wrong with discussing other undesirable scenes.
Or, are we not allowed to do that here?
you were echoing dumb_kids request to adywan to have it removed, even if you didn't ask explicitly,
i was just wondering why people weren't more proactive in doing there own fixes...
or, are we not allowed to do that here?

Yes we are, just as we are allowed to speak freely. But this thread is about Ady's project, not about people doing their own fixes. I assume that if anyone decides to do more editing/tweaking, they'll start their own thread.
I don't think Ady takes offense to polite suggestions or discussion about his projects, which is all we were doing.

Correct. It's called logic.
Cool. Can someone post some comparison shots for ESB and ROTJ?
How about some shots comparing Wookieegroomer's HD-DVD edition to Adywan's blu-ray?
Thanks in advance

There are no comparison shots for ESB or ROTJ because i ahven't even done them yet. i've only just finished colour correcting ANH. the others will be months away yet
The HD broadcasts are 16:9, right? I was watching ANH on Spike TV last night, (the standard def version) and it was shown at 16:9. I noticed that the 2nd-to-last shot had to be panned&scanned (Luke was almost totally cut off on the left until they panned over to him), but the very last shot they showed at 2.35:1 (?)

No, they are 2.35:1, although there were some earlier broadcasts of the PT that were zoomed to 16:9
I'm still confused about aspect ratios, despite reading about them. For example, I know anamorphic is better than non-anamorphic because the scene will be bigger and the black bars will be smaller without zooming or distorting the picture somehow. But what is the ratio when you have a widescreen television and the whole screen is filled? Is there a good site that explains as many ratios as possible and maybe shows examples? There are so many times where I'd think 'why aren't there more movies that will fill a widescreen without having to zoom?' (which I don't do)
I don't have one solid site, but Wikipedia has a lot on aspect ratios.
Since this is off-topic, I'm going to put together a site with an explanation of how aspect ratios and anamorphic works and edit my post here with a link to it.
EDIT: In studying to make my own site, I found this site, which says everything I wanted to say. So nevermind on my site.

Thanks, 005. The Infamous Bulk had a good article called 'The Anamorphic Issue', but while it was good at explaining certain things, it lacked in other ways, such as the ratios that fill the whole screen without having to zoom and such.
This is what you want and it was written by one of our very own members:

This site should explain it all. http://www.widescreen.org/index.shtml
Haha, the suggestions are just pouring in! Thanks, guys. I have plenty to read now.

So Adywan, are the OT versions just the '04 SEs or are they your revisited versions. Either way it looks like you still did the color modifications that fit the OOT better. How can these be HD without blu-ray? I thoght SD format is not capable of HD, you gotta get blu-ray to do that, or HD DVD, but that is obsolete now.

1) these are modified versions of the SE, with adywans select changes, such as Han shooting first,
etc... not major modifications, small things that can be corrected
2) this is a format that is compatible with the sony p3, if you downloaded the sample, and
burned it, you could play it on your ps3, you don't need blu-ray, just regular DVD-R,and DVD-DL
3) other people , like me, don't have ps3, and are converting the final files to HD DVD, and other
digital formats, so you can just watch it on your xbox360/computer, etc..
all these answers were already mentioned in the thread at the beginning.

Great to see your colour-corrected screenshot samples for 'A New Hope' added to the first page now. I look forward to all of these, as an indicator of some of your colour-correction preferrences for your eventual 'revisited' versions of 'Empire' and 'Jedi' perhaps? :)

They can be HD in the same way Wookiegroomer's releases were HD. HD (hi-def) is a resolution, not a format. It starts at 720p and goes up to 1080p (considering only consumer level here guys, don't tear me apart :)).
SD (standard def) isn't capable of HD beyond doing "upconversion". What ady's doing is color correcting the HD broadcasts in AVC format. If you just want an HD version of Star Wars, Wookiegroomer's version looks excellent. It's WMV files with the VC-1 codec, so they play perfectly on an Xbox or even on a Windows XP/Vista PC.
I wish someone would re-encode Wookiegroomer 4/5/6 into H.264 MKV from the orignial WMV they are simply massive when they shouldnt have to be.
EDIT: NEVERMIND, I rather have a MKV of Adywan's 1080P - THE STAR WARS SAGA :)
GoldStone9 said:I wish someone would re-encode Wookiegroomer 4/5/6 into H.264 MKV from the orignial WMV they are simply massive when they shouldnt have to be.
Huh? They're 1080p and the bitrate is right in line with what an HD video should be. Reencoding them into H.264 MKV files wouldn't make the file sizes that much smaller and it would require an even more powerful CPU to view them then the current WMV files do (h.264 is more CPU intensive than VC-1). I can watch the WG releases, and any other VC-1 encoded HD video, flawlessly on a dual core CPU. H.264 files generally use up significantly more processing power and sometimes don't even properly play without extreme lag (depending on whether there are subtitles and if they're hardcoded or not).
If you want them reencoded, feel free to download them off usenet and do a reencode.
