Star Wars: REBORN - The Complete Saga (* unfinished project *) — Page 19

I think it will be roughly 2hrs (if not more) If I can't render Jabba to look realistic I'll take him out completely. I took out the whole Kamino plot and I'm going to be shortening a lot of unneeded scenes. Where can I get Andywan's copy of A New Hope?

Also the edited scenes I have so far are:

The Prologue

The Chase Scene

The Club Scene

Love Scene

Padme Remembers

Death of the Parents

Mace Vs Palpatine

I had some questions,

How do you make the Audio work on 6 channel surround sound?

Where can I get incredible quality sound effects for when I want to redo the music in a scene?

Also I'm going to be using a lot of alternative music, would you guys be ok with that?

I see you want to use an "edited love scene"... as the REBORN love scene seems to be lost, will you be making a new one, and how are you planning to do it?

I posted the love scene a few days ago.  A full resolution version sits on my hard drive.

0_o you're right! Damn, I seem to've missed a whole page :S

Thanks for clearing that up though!

@Asteroid-man: they were planning to use alternate music anyway, so go for it. If you want adys ANH, telling us if you need the PAL or NTSC version would help. Or perhaps ask ady for the lossless avi. If I remember correctly he offered it himself to infodroid for this project.

All right, back on topic.  Are we talking about plugging ANH scenes into AOTC or the other way around.  And was that the original Reborn plan?

Putting AOTC scenes into ANH

Here's a complete overview of what I would like to do:

Prologue

STAR WARS

Opening from AOTC where Senator Amidala is attacked

Opening crawl

Tantive IV take over, Leia and R2 walk away from each other as the droids leave through the escape pod and Leia is captured. We can assume the other rebels are dead.

The Droids are shortly captured by Jawas and pursued by Troopers.

Droids are sold, after R2 reveals his message about Obi-Wan, Luke talks to Owen about Obi-Wan and Anakin as we see the council calling in Anakin and Obi-Wan to Protect Padme.

Anakin and Obi-Wan save Padme and Obi-Wan jumps onto the droid.

Luke finds out R2 is missing and goes looking for him. Luke looking through binoculars turns into Zam looking through hers. The AOTC chase pursues.

The chase ends as Luke finds R2 and the Raiders. As Luke is knocked out, we cut to Padme addressing the senate.

Luke goes with Obi-Wan, shows R2's message and as he explains the old republic we get flash backs of AOTC. (Example; Anakin and Obi-Wan on Genosis ending with the Senate deciding on the Clone Army.

Round table scene mentioning the end of the Old Republic.

Anakin has a dream about his mother and says he needs to return. Short silent scenes of Anakin finding out what happened to his mother then cut to Luke and Obi-Wan finding out the troupes have tracked the droids to the Jawas. Luke races to the speeder as Anakin frees his mother. CONTINUE WITH ALREADY EDITED SCENE

Now we get to the Mos Eisley introduction and how Obi-Wan mentions that there are Pilots in there. Obi-Wan and Anakin enter the club to find the hiding hitman, cut back to Luke’s argument as we see someone approaching and then a lightsaber ignites to defend Luke and capture the hitman. The hitman is taken outside with the “who hired you” bit before she’s killed.

Back to present, Obi-Wan brings Luke to Han for negotiations. Imperial troops enter. Then we see Vader about to interrogate Leia. Han and Greedo scene, Council gives Anakin and Obi-Wan their mission.

Vader and Tarkin decide for Alderaan as the next target. Han talks with Jabba. Palpatine and Anakin speak. Obi-Wan and Luke come to falcon. Obi-Wan says goodbye to Anakin at station. Train takes off, then Han and the others take off. Falcon is being persued then they jump to light speed.

Death Star Scene, Leia is brought to see Alderaan blow up. Inside Millenium falcon, Obi-Wan falls to ground, Luke continues practicing. Train arrives and the edited love scene is inserted here. Tarkin and Vader find out Leia lied as the Falcon enters the system. The Falcon is lured into the Death Star. Vader says he hasn’t sensed that feeling in a long time.

We find out Obi-Wan is captured and some senators decide Palpatine should receive emergency power for the Clone Army to attack. Obi-Wan and Tyranes talk. The rebels get out and take over a bunker. They find out where the tractor beam is and Obi-Wan leaves. The Senate votes on the clone army. Han and Luke find where Leia is and they set out to find her. Ship lands and Anakin and Padme are captured. Luke Han and Chewie secure the area as Luke finds Leia’s cell. “I’m here to rescue you, I’m here with Ben Kenobi” turns to Anakin and Padme in the arena with Obi-Wan “Good Job” At “let the executions begin”…

Cut back to Vader saying Obi-Wan is back. As the rebels begin their battle, the execution begins simultaneously and they’re all doing their fighting. Anakin, Padme and Obiwan are cornered by droids while the waste is being crushed, all of a sudden Threepio turns off the garbage and a Saber comes on as the Jedi have entered the arena.

All the Jedi fighting from AOTC up until the Han runs into an army of troops is going back and forth. Now the battle scenes continue up until the lightsaber battle. Flashes are made back to Obi-Wan and Anakin Vs Dooku.

Once in the ship, we cut back to ANH as they try to leave death star with Yoda’s battle from AOTC interlacing. As they land on Yavin, Dooku lands on Coruscant with the plans of the Death Star as we see the plans in ANH on Yavinn. Then final attack on the Death Star will be focused solely on the scene alone. And to finish we get the whole “Begun the clone war has” with clone troopers assembling scene.

Finally the wedding and ceremony.

I'll also be posting a poster soon.

Asteroid-Man,

It would probably be prudent for you at this point to open up a new thread for this, since this represents your vision of the project.  There are other faneditors working on their own versions of the concept as well, including Corgicar, JasoN, and KillBillMe (on other forums).  So, you'll want to distinguish yours from the rest.

A word on your outline, just my first reaction of course:  There is a lot of cutting back and forth, which is what we tried initially, but we quickly found that both of these stories have such a massive scope that they need a little breathing room.  That's why we went back to the structure of our original inspiration for the idea, The Godfather Part II.  Looking at that, we noticed there would be about 20 minutes from Michael's story, and then it would transition to Vito's story, which would run for another 20 minutes and so on.  So, we tried to mirror that.

We always tried to approach the material from the viewpoint of a person who had never seen or heard anything about Star Wars before.  They need time to absorb the information that's being thrown at them at lightspeed pace.  I think if you structured it the way you're suggesting, the viewer would be so exhausted after the first half, they'd never make it to the second half.  Now, granted, by today's standards, The Godfather can seem a little slow at times...That's why we came up with the concept of "pillar" scenes, which I'm sure you've read about in my previous posts.

The pillar scenes allow you to make those on-the-nose visual and emotional connections you really want to make, and leave the rest of it for the viewer to mentally connect on their own.  Most people like to participate in a story when they're watching it.  It's all about presenting questions to the audience.  And the pacing reflects the rate at which you reveal the answers to those questions.

I think your structure would be a challenge to absorb, even for the ADD/MTV generation.  I don't mean this as criticism, it's just my humble opinion, and a word of advice coming from a person who has tried it.

OK that sounds good. I'm going to stick with the same selection of scenes but I'll bunch them up in longer segments like you suggested. Also, can I get a full list of the scenes you and TJ edited?

Kinda getting here late... So, is someone really picking up this project again? I've read this entire topic, and I was hoping that when I got to the end, I would have found a torrent link to this edit... Wow, heartbreaking. Someone pick this up and do it right. Heck, maybe I should take a stab.

Lately, I've been resurrecting some amazing old threads.... Gosh.... This was going to be amazing.

Yes it was.  ID's latest cut of the first hour which he did over a year ago now was truly amazing and unique. Sadly enough I don't think anyone ever saw that.

ID unfortunately has retired from fan editing.  :(

If only there was a dialog only track from the prequels....

Yeah, I knew he did. Sad day for sure.

If there a dialog only track, think of all the amazing things we all could accomplish.

Oh, and I appreciate all the stuff you were doing on this project. It was a team effort and your work was amazing as well! Any thoughts on you picking up some more editing? =)

Well thank you!  I appreciate that.

Not much editing for me anymore.  I used to add deleted scenes back in just for fun but I don't really do that anymore since everything I watch is on bluray now.  I've messed around with ripping and converting bluray's to edit in vegas but it's so difficult to work with 1080p files and most of the deleted scenes aren't finished anyway.

Unfortunately I'm not the creative one.  I was good for ID to bounce ideas off of but not very good at coming up with them on my own.

I do hope if my personal life ever calms down (divorce sucks) that I could do some little things.  I have really enjoyed the few things I've done over the years and wish I had the time to learn to do more.

Sorry to hear about the divorce. Can't imagine what that must be like.

But if and when things do calm down, I'd love to do that idea bouncing thing sometime. Heck, maybe I'll actually edit something I'll actually release.

I'm sure you know I attempted this style edit myself, and after many many cuts, I just couldn't make it work, and refuse to release something I can't stand to watch myself.

I've learned the trick is to wait until you've FINISHED an edit before you start the thread...  LOL!

During my time with my motherboard being down, I've spent a few nights writing up a outline or how I would attempt a edit such as this. It's always tossed around in my head as MrBenja mentioned the concept to me awhile ago. I'm about half way thru a rough draft write up that I think could be possible to pull off. It's alot more daring then I would have imagined, but thats the style I like to go with. Once I get my motherboard back up and running, and finish up my "Reign of the Dark Side" edit. This might be something I would be interested in doing before I move onto the rest of the movies following the outline of my episode 3 vision.

If I was to attempt this, It would no way be connected with the rest of the movies I plan to release. But as a stand alone story.

So far what I've come up with on paper comes no where near what was already being attempted by other editers. So If anyone were to pick up this project based on whats been already layed down by others in this thread. It would still be a major difference from what I'm going to try to attempt.
