Take that for what you will. But we'll see. I'm sure there's a lot of SW burn out. It happened after ROTJ as well, so it wouldn't surprise me if this film does less than $150M total Domestic Box Office. SW is getting old fast but I don't think that's due to the perception of quality, but I do think it might be related to quantity.
That's just a gut feeling of what may happen, but we'll see over the next two months what actually does happen.
See, I think Star Wars fans, including myself, come out for anything, and I think that the PT has stung so many older fans, people like me are just staying away. I have asked all my friends who is going to see this, half didn't even know there was a SW movie, and the other half kinda shrugged and said nah.
Now those friends I am talking about, don't post on the internet, don't hate Lucas the same way you hear around alot of SW message boards, these guys are in their 30's, love the OOT more then any movie series ever, thought the PT was OK, but felt burned by 3 movies that really weren't that great, and kinda lost faith in Lucas putting out anything good. I don't think it is burn out, cause SW can suck you in if it is half decent, but I just can't find one friend who wants to see a cartoon movie. Although I do have one friends whose 5 year old kid wants to see it, so yes I think the boxoffice will reflect a typical Pixar movie that kids and their parents can go to, but other then that, alot of people seemed to be staying home.
Who knows, maybe The Clone Wars will be this generations Holliday Special:)
