I saw the movie yesterday morning at a press screening.

Believe it or not, it's quite good. I thought it was well written.  The dialogue could be taken as more modern and earthy but overall I liked it. I think it had a lot less cringeable moments than any of the other prequel movies.

Skip it if you want, but it's really a decent movie.

Sunday256, Lucas & WB put an embargo on all pre-release reviews of the movie, AICN.com was forced to take down their negative reviews of The Clone War movie.

This strikes me as very odd for a SW movie, as I always felt they were critic proof, and they always make big money no matter what the critics say.  I know from the past that when a studio does this, it doesn't bode well for the movie, cause that means the movie isn't that good.  I remember in 1998, The Avengers movie with Sean Connery and Uma Thurman was not allowed to have any advanced screenings set by Warner Brothers, so there were no reviews opening weekend.  Needless to say the movie sucked, and I get the feeling WB & Lucas are worried about a backlash.

Anyway, we'll see what happens, but I still think anything with SW put on it is a money maker.  Only time will tell.

Well, I can't speak for everyone. So I'm sure there will be a lot of guys who dislike the movie. However, objectively speaking, I felt some of those cringe worthy moments you saw in the trailers are less cringeworthy when looking at the movie as a whole. Although there's some similar types of dialogue and attempts at slapstick comedy in this movie as in the other prequel movies, I think it works better in the animated sense. I actually laughed quite a lot. While those same style of jokes really didn't see as funny in the real life setting.

Take that for what you will. But we'll see. I'm sure there's a lot of SW burn out. It happened after ROTJ as well, so it wouldn't surprise me if this film does less than $150M total Domestic Box Office. SW is getting old fast but I don't think that's due to the perception of quality, but I do think it might be related to quantity.

That's just a gut feeling of what may happen, but we'll see over the next two months what actually does happen.
