I'm not contradicting you guys about the whole Jedi Master thing, because honestly I don't know for sure if he's supposed to be or not...perhaps I inadvertantly missed it during the movie or something.

Where are you hearing him being called a "Jedi Master"?

If you are referring to his padawan calling him master, I believe that's out of respect. Any teacher is considered a "master" in that regard whether they are a Jedi Knight or a Jedi Master. Jedi Knights had padawans (i.e. Quinlan Vos and his padawan Ayala Secura), but not everyone was considered a Jedi Master that had a padawan.
