I recieved a copy of this yesturday and watched this today. Let me first say that I saw ROTJ first, then ESB, then ANH when I was a child so I never experianced the full magic of the trilogy that people did 30 years ago. Man oh man. This was the best version of ANH I have seen in my life. Everything worked great and was seamless. I throughly enjoyed the star destroyer heading toward the death star. That made the movie for me. I was entranced from that moment. I must say that you have made what george should have put out in 2004. George shall bow his head in utter shame. Adywan, you made my day as I saw a film I had never seen before. This film was a real special edition. I loved every minute of it. I don't think that I didn't like anything. Your version was the ultimate version. I have the OOT to watch if I want to watch a classic trilogy, but if I want to watch a special edition, it will be yours for all time. The 2004 dvds that i bought will never be played again. They will only sit on my shelf forever. I look forward to episode 5, and I have never been as excited as I am right now to see that in my life. Thank you again for making this possible.

Edit:Also forgot to mention that I love that you put the credits with the stars in the background. I always loved that. At the end where it says Mixed & Recorded in a THX sound system theatre & in my front room while the wife watched the soaps, I laughed so hard. My wife thought I was crazy. lol. Thanks again.

There was some talk a little while ago about a multi-disc cover for this set. Did anyone finish one?

I adjusted doubleofive's cover - the one that looks like the Vintage action figure cards - to list the features of both DVD-9 and Purist but I haven't uploaded it anywhere.  005 - OK with you to post it?

The rest of the ones I've seen have been either DVD-9 specific or generic enough that it could work for any version, single or multiple.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

This movie is now near perfect thanks to you adywan!  Just 2 things:  The shot where R2 parts with 3po in the desert and rolls away over a sanddune still looks extremely fake. It looks like r2 had been pasted into the shot.

The other thing is when Obiwan ignites his sabre when meeting Vader. I think it still looks a little weird and the sabre looks too "fat".  Otherwise its perfect! I know this would be impossible to do but it would be cool to add a scene right before the yavin celebration where we see vader in his Tie advanced landing on a platform on Coruscant. Stormtroopers comes to greet him and he forcepushes them in anger over a ledge and then enters the emperors huge throne room and we see a longshot of him walking towards the emperor(playing the Imperial march)  with lots of red guards standing in line as he walk , then the scene segues into the yavin celebration. :)

Well, Ady has said that ANH:R is DONE, he's not going back to it again, especially not for minor tweaks.

Second - adding that scene would kill continuity with Robot Chicken.  :-)p

I'm kind of confused about formats and such. The NTSC version does not have PAL speedup. right? Even though it's not noticeable, that would annoy me to no end.

Is there a "Legit" Torrent website where I can go and get this legally without having the feds knocking on my door?

the PAL speedup is noticeable... mostly auditorially.

Although I do have to say, TNT often plays Jurassic Park sped up... but while trying to keep intact the audio "pitch" so it kinda warbles at times...

THAT is noticeable... I don't know how much they speed up the film but the speed up is extremely noticeable. Especially when you're use to the pacing in the regular NTSC version...

As long as you own the components that comprise the edit (namely, the 2004 DVD) then technically the download is not illegal.  Or so I've been told.

I finally got the dual layer version to burn (I think).  I followed Ron's directions and it seemed to burn fine through ImgBurn but it gave me an I/O error on the Verify phase after the burn was complete.  I jumped around and it looks OK.  Hopefully I can watch it tonight and verify it is OK.  I wonder why I got that error when it tried to verify the disc.  That makes me a little nervous.

The NTSC posting on usenet says PAL - is this just an  incorrect labeling or am I really downloading the PAL version?

If it has PAL in the file names then it is the PAL version. For some reason the headers didn't change to the PAL version and kept the NTSC name (even though in yenc it was changed to PAL). The NTSC version is still in a.b.starwars

Prettiest version of ANH I've seen. I think this and the other 2 movies has the makings to be *the* definitive fanedit of the OT.

Hey, there's my name in the credits!!

Hello I'm new!!!

I love Star Wars and I love what has been done visually by

Adywan to the film, its absolutely amazing, thank you.

I havn't actually got a hold of the revisited movie, I've only seen clips and read the changes, it seems the soundtrack has been changed. But I would really like the original music soundtrack in the film. Is it true that the "Purist" version changes the soundtrack back to the original one? If so, how many changes does the "Purist" version have in terms of visually from Adywans standard revisited ?  Becasue I would hate if too many of Adywans viual changes would be removed.  My only issue is that I want the original soundtrack AND Adywans visuals and changes.

And if the "Purist" edition is the one I want, I'm confued which one and were to get it. Not only are all the "Purist" torrents unseeded (is the DVD-9 the correct one?), but also there seem to be two types: a "2-CD AVI AC3" which is under 2 gigs and a "NTSC DVD9" which is over 7gigs. Is the DVD9 one the one you can watch on your DVD player? and whats the other smaller version?

Please help me get the experience that I need, and to direct me to get the one that I should want, I am ever so lost !!!!

Thank You.

The "Purist" edition, IIRC:

- Removes any music not originally in the film
- Restores Threepio's line at the beginning from "There'll be no escape this time" back to "There'll be no escape for the Princess this time"
- Restores the theatrical edit of the Obi-Wan/Luke hut scene
- Removes the two new Death Star reveals
- Removes the new TIE reveal from the Death Star battle

Am I missing anything else here?

Oh, and as for the "Purist" torrent:

- There IS NO DVD-9 (dual-layer) of the Purist version.  Any that claim to be are mislabeled and are actually the full Revisited version with ALL changes intact.
- You'd want the "Purist" DVD-5 (single-layer), which should be in the ballpark of 4.5 gigs, which you can burn to a DVD-/+R and play on your DVD player.
- The smaller AVI versions are just video files you can watch on your computer - there should be one that's 700 MB, and one that's around 1400 MB (1.4 GB).  I don't remember if either of those are the "Purist" version.
- While there IS NOT a DVD-9 (dual-layer) of the "Purist" version, there IS a DVD-5 (single-layer) of the full Revisited version.  If you decide against the "Purist" edition, but don't want to download an 8-gig file or don't have a dual-layer DVD burner, the DVD-5 of the Revisited version would be what you want.

Also, if you decide on the full version and not the Revisited version, I can mail you a copy of the NTSC (USA & Canada format) DVD-9.  I do NOT have access to the Purist version, or a PAL (Europe, etc. format) copy.

Yeah, Ziz, do it!

Finally!

Had a lot going on lately, plus almost had to buy a new computer (managed to dodge that bullet though...), but here it is.

doubleofive's cover, modified by Ziz

Mostly, it's textual changes. I redid all the text with the font that they used on the Vintage Star Wars action figure cards that his design is based on. I also modified the main "Revisited" logo on the front accordingly.

Now, if Ady wants to send me a full body shot of himself, I'll add him to the front as an action figure to make it complete.  :-)
