If the folks at Lucasland can release a $4000 box of pictures in a 2 foot wooden crate, then they are capable of thinking about making something "just for us obsessive types".

HA! Too True!

OK. Here's my pessimistic outlook. There will be no theatrical versions, no OOT.

I think we will get 2 box sets, one for DVD and one for Blu-Ray, and both will be the same except for the resolution of the format. It would be foolish to ignore the DVD market for the next few years, since it's still very much alive. We will get two discs per movie, one for the latest SE version of the movie, and one for special features. Most of the movies will be tweaked slightly in some way or another (in the same way that the Special Editions were tweaked when they made it to DVD).

The theatrical versions of the PT are a minor curiosity, and I can't see George giving half a rat's patootie about them. As far as the OOT, I don't think we'll get a respectable version of that for a few years. I suspect that the main reason we got the GOUT was to kill the OOT bootlegs. Since there are currently no high-quality DVD or HD versions of the OOT, there's nothing for George to compete with, nothing that's making him look bad. When we do get that (probably in the next couple of years), then an official version of the OOT will come our way in Blu-Ray.
