Requiem for a Clone War dream... (2003 series) (* unfinished project * - lots of info) — Page 7

it's a slow mess right now. got a fair bit done ideas wise but still mostly patchy and incomplete.

Consider this: No news = good news.

It's also slow cuz I'm learning and trying things as I go. Ad I wont use any shot I'm not 100% happy with. That means there are scenes that have gone through various iterations as things progress.

Overall It's been a fun and educational process...and at SOME point down the track there will be a finished product to enjoy.

I'm also considering jumping ship to some other video software. I'm finding Premeiere a little stubborn but it's also the best that I've found interface wise. I might lookfor some trials of other software and do some tests...

These CW volumes only take up a fraction of a DVD each, I just can't understand why I'm finding such horrible artefacts in various places...

still debating whether to go that route with the eyes.

At the moment I'm simply trying to clean up some of the terrible DVD compression. That is the main issue that I have aside from sync-ing audio since it's only in 2.0.

My take on the new series is that it will be rubbish but I look forward to checking out the animation. I'ts almost Like George has the impression he needs to 'one up' the cartoon network series before he's satisfied. But his inability to tell a compelling story will probably see that end in tears.

I hate the fact they decided to air this thing in cinemas, They are hyping it to be something far more special than it is and I think that is a mistake. In the end we'll have to wait and see I guess. Not far now.

its nice to know there are mindreaders here..

by the way good to hear about the progress on this edit..

just because its in the theaters, of course its coming to tv...what
difference does it make? maybe its not special to you....but the
rest of 'star wars' fans would disagree..

What are you the thought police?...What concern is it of yours? This is my opinion which was asked for - not fact. We've all got our own opinions.

At the end of the day it's a television show and that's all it should be. I may like it or I may not, But from what I've seen I don't expect much.

i was watching both series of the clone wars yesterday, still quite interested in this project. to be honest i think asajj looks better without the eyes, just for the purposes of style.

are you going to change the music? im not to keen on the music in hte cartoon personally. its not bad, but i dont think its star wars.

i didn't expect much from the clone wars tv show, and didn't get much out
of it either....apparently you did, (or maybe you didn't), which is why
you're editting it now... did you actually think these short little clips
would amount to anything interesting?

see people can get suprised by (gasp) George Lucas' projects
from time to time..

so yeah, we'll all have to wait and see how it works out...

i on the other hand, can't wait for new material, and the fact
that its in the theaters makes it even more enjoyable..

clone wars (animated), could never exist anywhere but on tv...

PSYCHO_DAYV, It's fine - I just hate it when people get pushy.

negative1, I'm doing this for fun, I really enjoyed the 2d series. If you didn't then that is fine, There doesn't need to be an issue here.

The clone wars were covered, I'd much rather see a new show covering something else.

ben_danger, Yes I'll be changing the music a fair bit, I do like what is there mostly but I dont have any clean versions of those tracks...and with scenes rearranged they wont be useful.

Having recently watched 'The Clone Wars' movie I've been considering maybe not using 'clone wars' in the title, What are people's thoughts on this? I was thinking of going with something fairly Star Warsian like "Galactic Conflict" or some such...

Ideas / Suggestions?

It's getting late now, I'll try get on tomorrow with some details...

i say keep the title "Clone Wars". forget about the new series having the same title. In my eyes, and from the looks of things, alot of other peoples eyes, the new movie/tv series doesn't exists anyway. this cartoon was far superior to the garbage Lucash is bringing out now. If the new movie is anything to go by i can see the 3D version fading out of existence. lol

This was the original Clone Wars so i think it should stay that way. :)

No, stick with the clone wars. If Lucas insists on makin a total mess of the saga, its his mess.

This was the original clone wars in the first place, and the erm "movie" should have been titled differently, unless he loves the contraversary it causes.

Oooh, how did i get blue?

i quite liked the new clone wars film, or should i say i was disappointed with it less than i was with ep I and II.

when its on dvd i hope someone adds a crawl to it though.

are you adding a crawl to this one? whatever you do dont replace the star wars logo with a clone wars one :S

^ I'm actually considering whether to do that [Re: Main logo]. I haven't decided. I still haven't done a FINAL quality crawl - Because it takes a while to render. Want to make sure i've got it looking good and free of errors before then.

Yes I will be adding a crawl. The opening shot of the movie is a post crawl pan down to the ships exiting hyperspace at the start of chapter 2 of the series - The battle of Muunilist.

The scene in Palps office from chapter 1 will be used for a sort of flashback sequence later on and the rest of chapter 1 was exposition via monolgue which we don't need if there's a crawl - and shots that in part get re-used later on [various Jedi in battle] - therefore safe to remove.

What can i say? Rotoscoping is very time consuming. On the up side i figured i can just black out the existing sabers instead of painting them out entirely. There are a lot of sabers flung about in this show.

And the other thing that is REALLY REALLY giving me a headache is the audio. I AM slowly making progress there but it's a lot of work. Especially the first few minutes where i'm totally reshuffling the order of shots.

I've also been working on the 'opening' scene. I had it rough for a while but i'm working on a proper version. It's not quite done but i'll see if i can pull out a few frames to post...sit tight Dayv!
