I noticed something with the color correction, in a few of the videos that were posted. I don't know if these were intended to be the final shots or if they have been corrected.

The hue of the Snowspeeder pilots costumes is not consistent between every shot. Some times, the costume is much too red. The real flight suit (pants) had a mid-orange hue with no shift towards red. The jacket should have largely the same orange hue as the pants (coveralls) but be only slightly less saturated, except on Dagobah where the jacket gets darker because it gets wet and dirty. If the jacket has a shift from orange, it is towards yellow.

See especially in the shot where Han arrives at Echo base after leaving Luke. Look first at the pilot that passes Han Solo and then at the pilots working on a snowspeeder. I noticed no such color problems in my OOT / laserdisc-RIP.

The past few weeks I have been studying all the images that I could find of the Hoth Snowspeeder outfit, because I want to construct this costume for myself. I have looked at both movie stills, production photos and publicity shots. When I have come far enough, I will of course make my patterns and other findings freely available for everyone else. Doing research on costumes and props sometimes makes you overly attentive to certain details...

HEY! DONT DELETE COMPETELY SE WAMPA! It was wery upset that there is no wampa in OT. Only small shot at ate end of cave scene. And SE gives us a long shot of wampa.

There is a shot when the snow speederes are takeing off and there looks to be some cables pulling one of them. I also noticed the PAL speed up with the opening crawl music of the latest ESBR clip.  Am I right ?

How are those HIGHLY ATICIPATED pics coming along Negitive 1?

I agree with the deletion of SE wampa.  Just as Jaws wouldn't be the movie it is today if the shark had been seen the in first scene, so Empire was better off with an unseen beast lumbering after Luke, instead of a guy in a suit "nom nom"-ing away on a huge chicken leg.

The SE wampa IMO is the only SE shot that LFL got right.....the only problem is its too well done and makes the 30 year old wampa stand out....

To me all the other SE shots in the OT just plain look bad...the quality wasn't there....but the SE wampa shot atleast looked like, whoever

was in charge of that shot, cared about it.

However I understand about taking it out as well....it does spoil the suspense.

I love everybody. Lets all smoke some reefer and chill. Hug and kisses for everybody.

I know Im always late in this discussions, but would it be possible to "erase" the tusks from the wampa in the subsequent scenes? Would that possibly be an easier route?

He *does* have tusks in the first Wampa shots, they're just covered by fur and snow - you can see them, but just barely.  I never understood why people thought it was something that needed to be fixed, personally.

I think with a little more massaging, those horns will look great. Just requires a bit more tinkering. They already look pretty solid. Just some fine-tuning.

Josh -  Soon.  There were some unforeseen problems/limitations with the site where some of these shots are concerned, and they 'cut off' after a certain amount in PMs.  As I can't risk the same happening with the final post onto the actual thread, I've had to spend more time putting them into sections, ready for posting one after the other. So time has been taken up trying to sort out this out seperately, and certain shots seemed to want to come out a different size or not at all.  After a bit of playing about, I've been able to get something like what was originally intended now, but it's now finding the time to finish up all the relevant comments in-between them, that is the latest hold-up.  All I can tell you is that I hope to have them up sometime during the next 3 days.

Re:the Wampa 'horns' -  There is no doubt that that the 1st original suit ('puppet') has it's horns in place under all that fur, and there is what looks like the gnarly, cut-off 'stump' of one of them sticking out, that is easily seen too, when you study a screenshot.  And this version of the Wampa looks great.  Unfortunately, the 2nd original suit ('man inside') version, where it 'lunges' towards us in the cave, has a totally different look to both it facial features, it's ears, and the shape of it's horns.  It is a very different design to the 'puppet' version.  The ears on the 'puppet' are noticeable in it's second brief appearance with Luke and the Taun-Taun, but they are more discrete, and don't 'stick up' so prominently on the very top of it's head, as the ones on the 2nd version do.  The 'horns' on this 2nd one are very smooth, and stick out a lot at the side of it, compared to where the ones on the 1st version seem to be, had they not been covered in fur.  It is a very brief shot, at the end of the day, but the differences are there.  The SE version that is being dropped by Adywan, was very different again, but I preferred the look of the horns on that one, compared to the 2nd original ('man in suit') one.  The question is whether Adywan tries to match the 2 remaining designs a little, or not, and if he does, does he match the look of the 'horns' on the 1st one, or the 2nd one, or even the SE one...  There is no right way or wrong way at the end of the day, but if Adywan doesn't add the hint of a 'second' Wampa in the cave, then it would be nice for these 2 versions to better match a little.  If he leaves them both different, and doesn't try to match them, then that's okay too, as it's not straight-forward.

Of course, if Ady can sculpt Ponda Baba's flipper, he could definately sculpt horns for a wampa.  That would solve the HD problem, and he could make them look however he liked.

ImperialFighter - email me if you're having size problems with those pictures.  There should only be two sizes: "ImpFightxxx" should be full size 480p and "ImpFightxxx-1" should be the smaller version.  All of the codes should read like: [ url=http://blahblahblah/ImpFightxxx.jpg ] [ img=http://blahblahblah/ImpFightxxx-1.jpg ] [ /url ] except for "First" through "Fourth", which are backwards.

Well maybe its a family of Wampa's. Like Lions in the wild, the lioness stalks and captures the prey and brings it back to the male Lion. So we saw the female lion attack Luke on the surface and the male lion in the cave. This may be worthy of a Spin off "Meet the Wampas"

Sounds good to me.  I think the tension was pretty much gone with the added shots of the Wampa.

With reference to Imperial Fighters 2nd wampa (the original man in a suit), here he is in full glory (i sh*t you not!).

Just dont make it look like the last one too much (the facial close up), as i almost fell out of my seat, the first time i looked at it (although i think they did only intend to use the suit for long shots in the original film).

Damn that thing was big too bad it didnt work.

Why not fully remove the 2nd original Wampa shot (the one lunging at Luke), replace it with an SE Wampa shot (such as the one where it rises and faces Luke) and make the 1st original Wampa (the one who attacks the Tauntaun) look more like the SE Wampa? The 2nd original Wampa looks the worst anyway, and that shot is the one that should be fixed.

The first orginal Wampa "the puppet" is the best IMO and the others should be adjusted to look like it.

Ady, I know that you're dead-set on removing all of the SE Wampa shots.  I also know that there seems to be quite a few people that want (or, perhaps more precisely, don't mind) the SE Wampa shots to stay in.  It's up to you, of course, but perhaps a compromise could be reached: leave out all of the SE Wampa shots except the one after Luke slices his arm off.  This would keep the mystery of exactly what the Wampa looks like right up to the very end, where get get our first (and final) look at what is scaring the shit out of the characters (and us).  Jaws has been brought up a number of times as a fine example of "less is better," but even Jaws managed to reveal the entire shark towards the end, and IMHO served as an effective way of saying, "Okay, folks, we've been hinting around about this sucker, so here it is in all its glory.  Please try not to wet your pants."

Again, Ady, it's totally your decision, but perhaps this could serve as food for thought, particularly since you aren't even close to doing the actual editing yet.

There are 10 types of people in this world: those who understand binary, and those who do not.
