I knew there was a reason I woke up today, yay me. Can't wait to check this thing out. Congrats on finishing.

I know it's only just started, but I'm not a fan of the bittorent thing. Can someone post to a newsgroup please? :-)

I'll post it to the newsgroups, after I get a copy.

One day I found... 10 years had got behind me. Next day was worse.

Download  shows from Cable DVR (Updated! Yes, it needs a rewrite, but it's worth slogging through, anyway).

I'm willing to PIF if someone can send me a copy.  I use DVDDecrypter for copying onto either Verbatim or TY discs (at 4x).

I'm located on the West Coast.

Hey guys, I just saw this posted on tpb and it sounded so good, I decided to come check out this site, and i'm glad I did. I'm downloading the torrent now and i'll help seed it for awhile but I have another question. Sorry its a little off topic but I was reading the beginning of this thread and someone mentioned an extended version of Far and Away. Is there a torrent of that somewhere or is there any other way to get a hold of it?

My hard drive situation is critical right now, so I'm going to need all of you to chime in on whether I got it right or made any errors, since I need to delete all the source files in about a week. I've checked it of course, but if I overlooked something serious, I may be able to fix it now. Enjoy the movie!

Hey McFly.. if you dont mind my asking, mind sharing what program(s) you used to make the DVDs?
I've been wanting to convert a few of my harder-to-find VHS movies to DVD and would like to add decent menus, but I havent found any programs that allow me to customize menus all that well. I noticed you have "load screens" on yours, I've never seen that in the programs I've used before, and I think that'd be cool.

The menu's look really good (not a fan of image/clip-less scene selection.. but beggers cant be choosers).

Give it time... there's only ever been one seeder (McFly) and the filesize is a whopping 8.72GB.
If McFly had told just a handful of people about it who were willing to seed about 3 days before announcing it, then things probably would have been easier overall. However, there is currently 1.77 full copies out there (meaning 1 with 100% and many with 77%) so it shouldn't be too difficult, just configure your torrent program to properly limit your connection speeds (cap your upload and download based on Step 2 this guide. Skip Step 1 as it has been proven time and again to be ineffective) and you should get a fairly decent download speed.

Yeah, it seems like by the time we get more than 0.5 seeders, everyone will have finished at the same time.

I've got ~60 hours remaining right now at 77.4% =/

I used DVD Architect, but it doesn't create the transitions automatically. I basically made the menus in DVD Architect, then saved stills of them and threw the stills into Vegas, where I made them fade into each other, etc. and then made the button actions in DVD Architect link to the transitions, which link to the menus they're supposed to lead into. If that makes sense. It sounds like you finished downloading, so don't forget to seed!

I'm sorry about the seeding situation, I've been meaning to mail some disks out to Jaiman, but I figure I should get some feedback and make sure there are no mistakes before he posts it everywhere.

Ah, i made that same mistake. Apparently its best to seed to five or six exclusive members with torrents, then go pubic, as they can leech off multiple seeders and speed the whole thing up twice as fast.

Still your almost there McFly and doing that on your own is something you can also be really proud of.

We should be there by this time 2morrow, so give yourself a break once we can seed for you when done.

To everyone else. Once we get to 100% dont just cut off the torrent, as its taken McFly a lot of effort to get this out to you. Even if you burn the files to disk, leave your client running beyond the 100% in the background (okay it may slow your browsing a little bit), just so you can share the hard work thats gone into this (some people just dont get how torrents work, and thats why they die after a few months).

Thank you many times over for the effort youve put in on this one. Its a very rare gem that i can boast about in my collection from now on, so if i can help you in any way in the future then just say the word my friend.

You know, it's kind of funny...I don't even remember why, but the other day I had this urge to check the forums, and bam, the Waterworld extended cut is finished, and I'm just in time for a brand new torrent =)

If only everything in life was like that.

I'm actually only at 79.6% done downloading (earlier it was 72%) but I have the VOB/IFO's for the menus completed for both movies. Sadly I'm only able to seed at 30kb/s so I've only got a share ratio of 0.486 though I fully plan to seed this as long as I am able, which means as long as it's still actively being downloaded.

One thing I've forgot to mention in my previous posts, what is the SPREPARE.SPSS file?
I've never seen one of those before and searching on google didn't get me very far.

Just wondering, how do you create a private torrent?

I got to hand it to you, as it is amazing how many people are interested in this ABC cut.

I am very glad you restored it.

It is the talk of the fan world right now and it seems amazing.  I am downloading it right now! I do have a very my Encore presentation master but I am interested in seeing what you have done to it.  I realize that these sorts of restoration take a ton of time - Ie: see Highlander II REEV - SZE - EZV and DUNE - Third Stage.

Can't wait!!

Remember, Highlander, you’ve both still got your full measure of life. Use it well, and your future will be glorious.

Thank you all for the support, I hope you enjoy my edit... whenever it may finish downloading!

I've flicked through some of the edit, and most of the extras, and just wanted to say "Well done!" McFly.

It was great to see some of the decision making and work on getting the edit as nice as possible.

Just taking a brief peek now that one part of disc 1 is finished, I always forget how much better stuff looks in motion than it does in screen captures.

I kind of like that the station watermarks were kept. I've only seen the Sci-Fi/USA cut of the movie (not even the theatrical cut), so it's interesting to see where certain scenes came from.

ok,

was this version supposed to bring back all the original uncut lines?

i've noticed one change already..

i haven't watched the movie in years, and years...so i got the following

1) extended directors cut

2) extended version (heet) gxline

3) hd-dvd version (still getting it actually)

==================================================

there's a scene where jack black (the pilot) spots the mariner, and comes back

to the ship to report to the deacon...................and he says 'and some atoll WITCH'...

of course this is censored version.....because all the other ones have the actual line...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i'll make a note of the other changes as i see/hear them...

Ah, it's a file used by DVD Architect that shouldn't have been included in the torrent. When you build a DVD, DVD Architect creates a prepare file. This way, if you change one little thing and then build the DVD again, it doesn't have to re-encode everything, just the thing you changed.

There are a few lines like that that are censored for TV, but I couldn't replace because there's no analogous line in the theatrical cut. Since the extended was only broadcast on TV, there is no "uncut" version of the line. In fact, in the theatrical cut, Jack Black's only line in that scene is off-camera. He says "uh-huh."

Nonetheless, a good catch by negative1.
