very nice Ady,

I just stumbled onto this thread, very nice work,it also plays fine on my PS3,v2.41,can't wait to see all of them when finished.

keep up the great work!

"Well i have been tinkering with my new quad core and along the way i discovered how to convert the HDTV 1080p saga into a Blu-Ray format"

this is great news,I just bought a Quad Core Phenom and have alot of HD space(matter of fact I am getting it all ready to use right now, just got it yesterday),would you mind enlightening me on how you do this,or point me to a tutorial,I have alot of HD stuff I would love to package up this way.

thanks for your time and all your efforts.

I've been watching this thread with great interest and can't wait to see Adywan's results. The demo looked fantastic on my PS3. It's the next step in my releases but until enough HD content becomes available I'm taking it slowly. The one question I do have is, has anyone tried Roxio's DVDit HD. I'd like to include menus on my releases and bar Scenarist I think this is the only program that will allow you to do that. Also, is a regular photoshopped 1920x1080 jpeg image good enough for menus and slideshows or are there any special requirements such as pixel aspect ratio etc.

Good luck Adywan! Can't wait!

No, I think as long as it's 1920x1080 you'll be fine - I'm pretty sure HD content uses square pixels.

I did try DVDit Pro HD but i couldn't get the thing to work on my machine. I had problems with the activation screen and Roxio weren't the greatest of help, so i gave up and didn't bother buying the full version

Adywan, your work is truly amazing. I'm sure you probably hear that all the time, but I thought I'd say it again. If you're not working in computer animation you should be. I was blown away by all the changes you made for Star Wars Revisited. I didn't expect anything as high quality as what you produced. I am very much looking forward to your HD versions of the original trilogy.

I'm currently trying to get ahold of the AVCHD PS3 releases and usenet.com is driving me insane. I found the files under filesearch but none will download. Now the alt.binaries.x264 server is apparently down completely. I was luckily able to get ahold of the DVD 9 version of Star Wars Revisited pretty quickly. I'm a Usenet newbie, so I'm still fumbling around a lot.

If anyone can't get on usenet and wants some help obtaining any of these, let me know.

I currently have Ep 1-6 Wookiegroomer DVD-9 HD.

Wookiegroomer's Ep 4-6 12 gig versions.

Star Wars Revisited DVD-9.

Anyone want to help me obtain the PS3AVCHD files I would greatly appreciate it! :)

I too am looking for the PS3AVCHD versions to hold me off until Adywan finishes his set.  The newsgroup server I signed up with must not have had a long enough retention as I didn't see them posted when I went to search for them.  If anyone has a torrent version of them somewhere they can link that'd be great.

Good to hear that your drive should be coming in today Adywan, can't wait till you start to release these.

I'm encoding the first pass colour correction for ANH now. I'm having to do it in chunk of 30 minutes because the rendering times are horrendous. After effects reported 58 hours to encode the whole movie. Hopefully i will have some comparison screenshots to post a bit later today.

58 hours aint too bad lol if only there was a way to combine all our processing power like they do with the s.e.t.i. programme and such!

i think i said it before but im more excited about this than clone wars! (and im getting a little excited by that now, even moreso if i can find somewhere projecting it digitally!)

Ady, you're not color correcting ANH and ESB at the same time, are you? :p I don't remember you saying anything was done in that regard yet. At any rate, you seem to like working on several different things at once anyway. I guess I'd be excited too. Haha.

Probably an impossible request but I might as well make it anyway:

yes i'm doing both at the same time. A New Hope's colour correction is finished and i'm rendering the lossless avi right now. had a few problems with the last encode and i wasn't too happy with some of the colour correction so i needed to go back and do some more work. i should have the main video rendered for the PS3 by tomorrow and then i can sync the audio tracks. if all goes well then EP4 AVCHD should be available in the next few days. I'm not going to be using most of the 2004 5.1 mix for ANH but instead i'm gong to be using my Revisited mix for most parts with the 2004 DVD & Laserdisc 5.1 mixed in too.

I'd figured as much. I'd almost settle for a fade to black at this stage...

Still, I'll be all over these once they're done. Best of luck to ya. I'm most excited about these - and I've got the Wookie Groomer 12 gig'ers.

P.S. Test sample worked perfectly on my old Panasonic DMP-BD10, burnt with DVD Decrypter.

Just a quick update:

another problem has hit. The rendered mkv looked great but while watching i noticed a problem that was to do with the master avi render. i'd enabled a temp layer in vegas and some wrong shots had been rendered , so back to square 1. i'm rendering the master avi now and the mkv should be finished by tomorrow. But i will post some screenshots a bit later.

Thanks for the update.  I've been checking this thread every day for like the past week hoping for one of them to have released :-P.  What kind of release are you planning ng, torrent, or both?  I think I read somewhere along this thread that you at least released on the newsgroups but if you do torrents also I would gladly use the torrent instead.

Absolutely. :) When does that movie come out, anyway? Or did it come out Friday? I kept thinking for a while that something was happening on the 15th, then nothing did. *checking IMDB* It was Friday. Hmm, well, I might go on cheap night.

This project looks very intresting. Kind of OT/1997 hybrid.

Not enterialy sure about the Pre-2004 Emperor bit (1997 Emperor looked really funny), 2004 Emperor + 1997/OT dialog would be nice to see, but that would take alot of editing.

None the less no No Hayden and Han is a BIG F**K YES! :)

Also are you using hV's release to edit/re-encode or are you using the MPEG2 boardcast caps.

Excellent! Downloading the test clips now.

I discovered information about this edit through reading the Digital Bits a couple of days ago and have become massively intrigued by this whole venture.  I am not only amazed by the time/effort/skill that has gone into this but also the amount of errors which have now become apparent in the film. How could I not have ever noticed the ILM guy by the droids being sold to Lars Owen?!

Asides from Torrents I am having difficulty obtaining the knowledge of how to view this edit.  Is pming considered a faux pas?  Leads would be appreciated as I am giddy with excitement!!!

 tcib,

i think you're in the wrong thread, this is for the HD versions of the trilogy.

if you're looking for the 'A new hope : revisited' , go over here:

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/STAR-WARS-EP-IV-2004-REVISITED-ADYWAN-DVD-9-VERSIONS-NOW-AVAILABLE/topic/5942/

also, you can download it from several bittorent sites:

demonoid, mininova, the pirate bay.

if you have a rapidshare account, you can get it from:

http://www.fanedit.org -> do a search for star wars

also if you have good/fast newsgroup access, get it from:

alt.bin.starwars
