Oh, cool, video game thread. I forgot this forum had one. Anyways, I'm just stopping by want to inform you about G4 rewind. Basically, it's a block of G4's old shows the reruns are back due to fan demand. Recently I made a thread about the Star Wars stuff that aired yesterday but, got no reply yet, plenty of views. Anyways, ..... Tomorrow a show called Portal airs. Portal involves MMORPGs into a story based show. The later episodes contain Star Wars: Galaxies into the storyline. So,... if you want to understand what's going on before that watch G4tv tomorrow morning.

The G4rewind block airs 9:00 am - Noon EST. Times vary depending on time zone. check your local listings!

Also, I'm thinking of getting Ninja Gaiden II. I liked the first one.

Here's what I'm playing on a rotational basis:

Return to Castle Wolfenstein XBOX
Call of Duty 2 360
Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine PC
Jet Set Radio Future XBOX
Shenmue II XBOX
BioShock 360
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis PC

Man, I loved Bioshock. I never wanted to leave Rapture...I plan to play through again soon with the downloadable content from the xbox live marketplace.
I already beat it but I'm doing another playthrough so I get the rest of the achievements I missed. Hopefully there'll be a BioShock 2. Of course it can be another type of city thing. I got the good ending.
Can't wait for GHOSTBUSTERS: The Video Game to be released in September. Damn the achievements for it will be so damn fun.

Jack Thompson was recommended to be disbarred for at least ten years today. This makes me happy. The final sentencing won't come till September, though. :(

I 'think' i got the 'evil' ending to Bioshock. From what I've heard there are plans for a sequel in the works and also a movie. I hope they don't go crazy and ruin it all...

Johnny, your name is a character played by Michael Biehn from TOMBSTONE.
Could be an indirect sequel. I too loved Rapture. I even took the time looking at alot of things and the game developers put alot of effort into it.

AND where the farking fark is HALF-LIFE 2: Episode Three?! I own The Orange Box for 360 and holy shit, one of my all-time favourite game bundles. I truly love the random achivements in the package. PORTAL 2 also please thanks?

The New Republic isn't worth fighting for. It lasts, what, twenty years?

No Blu-Ray Station 3 to play it on. Hearing good things about it, though.

Well, there's apparently going to be a DC Universe MMORPG on the PS3.

I guess that means I'll have to get one... eventually.

So, thus far Nintendo's "big secret" for E3 has been Animal Crossing? I'm seriously considering getting a 360. Tired of getting boned on the best titles.

I thought it was their enhancement to the Wiimote accuracy.

I'm surprised they've not announced a new Zelda yet.

It's uncharacteristic of them to go this long without having a known Zelda in the pipeline.

To me it feels like Twilight Princess hasn't been out that long, but I guess it has been a few years now. Didn't Phantom Hour Glass just come out last year? I still haven't gotten around to beating Windwaker, and I have yet to play Twilight Princess (figured I'd beat Windwaker first and wait for the price to come down on TP before buying it). They have been whipping Zelda titles out left and right over the past few years, maybe a short break isn't too bad of an idea.

My list of games I am currently working my way through:

Resident Evil Deadly Silence (DS)

The Secret of Monkey Island (DS)

Metroid II (DS)

Super Metroid (DS)

Windwaker (GC)

Biohazard 4 (PC)

Half-Life 2: Episode One (PC)

God of War II (PS2)

Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)

Republic: The Rovolution (PC)

Looking at the list you'd think I was living several years in the past, which isn't too far from the truth.

I desperately want to play Bioshock, but I lack the hardware to do so. Once Resident Evil 5 is out and they make a Xbox 360 port of MGS 4, I will consider buying a 360 just to play those three games.

Twilight Princess was announced the year after Wind Waker came out... It's been nearly two years since Twilight Princess came out, and even if they announced it this year it would still be a while before it was out.

Nintendo taking a break with Zelda titles doesn't bother me. Though, the fact that this topic makes me feel old does. ;)

They released "Secret of Monkey Island" on DS?! When did this happen?!

Speaking of adventure games, has anyone else played Telltale Games's "Sam & Max" episode games?

Monkey Island DS was proposed at LA from what I understand, but ultimately canned.  Don't take my word for it though.

Does anyone else feel betrayed by Nintendo?  They're not even marketing to the gamer anymore, just the consumer; meaning all they care about is $.  Ironically, I always thought the oposite of Nintendo, where I always thought its competitors acted like that.

Yeah, I am pretty disappointed in Nintendo. The Wii and the DS are both amazing machines with great potential, but... well... yeah. I love my DS, the best handheld gaming system ever produced IMHO, but there are actually VERY few real DS games of any interest to me. Sadly, to unlock the true greatness of the DS, some way of playing homebrew is required. Now on to answer Nanner's question.

No, The Secret of Monkey Island was never released for the NDS. Neither was Metroid II (and the DS can't play the good ol' monochrom GB carts), nor was Super Metroid (though it really should have had a GBA rerelease, and it is truly ashame that it did not). Via SummVM for DS you can play all those old LucasGames adveture games, including Loom, Maniac Mansion, Monkey Island 1 and 2, Day of the Tentacle, Sam & Max Hit the Road, the Indiana Jones adventure games, and any other of those older classics that ran on the SCUMM engine that I am forgetting. It can also run a good deal of non-LucasGames/Arts adventure games. They run flawlessly on the NDS. Unfortunately games like Monkey Island 3, Full Throttle, and Grim Fandago do not work though. I would have loved to play those on my DS.

And of couse Metroid II (in full color) and Super Metroid are made possible to play on the DS through emulators.

Well, I knew homebrew was an option, but I thought you were saying that SoMI was actually released on DS at some point. I've actually got ScummVM on my laptop (with all the games mentioned above, plus a few others). Are you sure that Monkey Island 3 won't run on the DS? I know Grim Fandango and Monkey Island 4 won't (they were programmed with LUA, not SCUMM), but Monkey Island 3 runs just fine on ScummVM. Does it have something to do with the 3D rendering in the game, or simply the fact that the files themselves are so large?

It has to do with Windows.  The developer thought there wasn't enough RAM in the card to support Windows programming.  Also, why is homebrew so expensive?  It's $35 for the DS card, then probably another $15 for the mini-SD card... :(

I am not sure why MI:3 doesn't work on the DS, it just is not compatible with the DS port of SCUMM. Probably has a lot to do with limitations of the DS. Perhaps someday they will release a version that can run The Dig, Full Throttle, and Monkey Island 3. It is really cool to be able to carry these old games around in your pocket. What I would really love would be to play Grim Fandago on the thing, but that is asking too much. Who knows, maybe someday someone will make a LUAvm and port it to the DS.

As far as the expense of homebrew, it is very inexpensive now. Barely more than it cost for a brand new DS game. You can get MircoSD cards very cheap off of amazon.com. I payed $11 plus a couple of bucks shipping for my 2gb microSD that I use in my DS.

Wind Waker issue - in trying to get Makar to accompany me to the Wind Temple I'm having an incredibly hard time. I play the Wind God's aria for him, but all he does is tell me to keep his practicing a secret. I'm using the left trigger to target him and it's still happening. Thoughts?

You've tried the control song?
