It's not madness. Plain and simple: he was never a fan of what he made. He's a man who is fascinated by ideas and that helped him craft a few good movies. Otherwise, I don't think there's a single element of Star Wars which he would be faithful to as an artist. He just doesn't care about things in that way.

If it ever actually happens maybe they can join us real fans in trying to get lucas to restore the "real trilogy" in dvd quality.

I rarely venture into TFN territory, and when I say rarely I mean only when someone links to it from here. I think this was only my second time visiting one of those links. Just never had any interest in TFN whatsoever. So, forgive me for quoting one of these guys, I guess I just had no idea how fanboyish people can really be.
