Ady, is it possible to see some 1080p footage that you have completed so far?

i'm afraid not. i haven't even started converting the original file yet to 1080p avi as i had done all the new work with 720p. i have just deleted the 720p stuff and starting again. it will be a week or so before i have even done the first colour pass.

I have one concern about an eventual Blu-Ray version of ESB. I have been told that recordable Blu-Rays are unable to play on Blu-Ray players. This was one of the big gripes that came from the HD-DVD camp back when the war was on. Essentially that Blu-Ray "Rs" were only useful as data discs in PCs due to a deliberate lack of support as recorded movie discs on players (something about combatting piracy) Stupid Sony...

Most of those issues were either down to the burning software that was available and the players firmware. The PS3 can play BD-R & BD-RE since a firmware upgrade and many other players have fixed this issue with a firmware upgrade too. Although samsung disabled BDMV (the main blu-ray standard) after a firmware which made blu-ray recorded movies unplayable butu most other players will play it. There is also the BDAV standard which has less features and almost all players will play the recordable media.

But a blu-ray disc version is years away yet. The AVCHD should play on most Blu-ray players so you'll be able to watch it, with chapters and extra audio tracks, but recorded to a single DVD-9
