I've noticed that wookiegroomers Episode 1 & 2 are currently being postes to a.b.hdtv.x264 by an anonymous poster. I'm hoping that they post episode 3 as well!

I suspect the Episode 3 should be completed by Thursday.  I promised someone that I would encode and post Wookie Groomer's releases in AVCHD format if they would post the first 3 episodes.  They have graciously taken the 4-6 days to do so I'll pass along the thanks as I'm sure I'm not alone as I missed the first 3 as well.

I'm sure there are concerns about re-encoding the excellent Wookie Groomer releases (thanks Wookie Groomer by the way) into a PS3 and BluRay Compatible AVHCD DVD9 disc but I've tweaked the x264 settings to achieve as much transparancy as possible to retain as much of the Wookie Groomer encode as possible.  Of course there is some loss of quality but its negligable and usually requires still caps and enlargement to see.

Anyway, I'll be posting Episode 4 today and likely Episode 5 this week.  I haven't started encoding Episode 6 and the encode with my settings take more than 28+ hours to encode...

Thanks for getting the full 13gb versions of the prequels up!  I've been waiting for months to get my hands on those.

lithiumus,

I also like the fact that you're upping blu-ray compatible versions, that is much appreciated.  I'm in the middle of getting TESB right now.  Any e.t.a. on ROTJ and are you planning on doing the same for I, II, and III?

Any plans for torrents of the AVHCD DVD9 versions?

ROTJ is currently encoding.  Should be ready this week and I'll post it as soon as it's ready.  We've split the duties, I did 4 - 6 and someone else has agreed to do 1 -3 and they have already started encoding so you'll see them soon!

Sorry, no plans for torrents... once they are available, anyone can torrent them...

I might have a chance in about 2-3 weeks to post something so pick what's most wanted. 1080p WMV DVD9 or 480p NTSC DVD9 split screens. My updated New Hope Split screen came and went without a peep from anyone so I assumed no one was interested.

I have & love the orginal splitscreens.  I only found out about the new versions thanx to an external link:

http://listenup.yojay.com/2007/07/addicted-to-star-wars.html

& was stunned that I hadn't heard of them on OT.

I think the reason the V2's came & went without barely a peep is because any reference to them is buried deep within this thread.  You'd have to sit here for an hour to read this whole conversation.  I can think of a number of reasons why some folks aren't ready to aquire the HD versions though they may be ready for the splitscreens.  But they aren't mentioned in the title or first posts.  I'd suggest editing a first post with a list of the releases (though I still think they should have their own thread).

Wookie Groomer, thanx 4 all your effort.

Are all these versions going up now ones that will play on a PS3 if streamed through a media server? The previous versions I have will play video, but not the audio because it's WMA format.

Yes. lithiumus and CPP-Gebruiker are making these to be fully compatible with the PS3. Should stream fine or you can burn them to a DVD9 and play them directly

in the PS3's drive. The quality is nearly as good as the original WookieGroomer 12 gig versions that they were converted from.

I am watching Wookie Groomers 12 gig Episode 3 right now and I simply cannot believe how good it looks and sounds. The playback on my PC is perfect.

You are a genius Wookie Groomer and when these finally show up on Blu-ray I can't imagine them looking any better than they do here.

Another potentially stupid question here. I typically stream stuff from my PC to my PS3 through Windows Media Player. Are these new AVCHD versions compatible with WMP so I'll be able to stream them directly?

AVCHD's are to be burned onto a DVD, usually a DVD-9 then you can pop them into your PS3 and play then just as you would a blu-ray or DVD. Unless you have the UDF 2.50 drivers & Blu-Ray software player on your PC you won't be able to play them on your PC

Agree 100%.  Wookie Groomer has done amazing work with these transfers and they look fantastic playing off my PC stright onto my big screen. I've had the original trillogy 12gb transfers for some time but have been looking for the 12gb versions for ages so huge thanks to the re-poster of these.

I have gotten Episode 1 and 3 of the 12gb, but am having big problems getting Episode 2.  I've tried a couple of times over the last few days but keep getting missing or damaged file errors.  Is anyone else having difficulties and if not can anyone help me with Episode 2 please.

Cheers, WL

OK, this is probably a dumb question and I apologize in advance for sounding like a newbie, but I've downloaded all 6 AVCHD movies and I can't get the .iso files to open with my normal program(Magic ISO). It won't recognize the files like it normally does with all other ISO files. What do I need to use to burn these on dual-layer DVDs so they'll play in my PS3? If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Thanks, Ady. So all I have to do is open up IMGBurn and write the image file to a dual layer disc, correct? Thanks again for your help.

Well thanks to Lithiumus, you can now play these WookieGroomer edits on the PS3.   I was the one who posted Wookies eps 1-3 on usenet for Lith to make into AVCHD discs, I had no idea there was so much demand for these or I would have done it earlier.   As far as the PS3AVCHD discs go, I personally did the Ep 3 avchd encode, but I felt it was a little 'soft'  but none the less, was almost identical to WG's original on my PC.

I always loved Wookies versions of the films,  its nice to finally have all 6 of these movies playable in the PS3 with chapters, thanks go out to Wookie for  making the 12gb originals, and to Lithiumus and Marcoo for making the avchd discs

Thanks a million, Ady. I've already burned Episodes I-III to dual layer DVDs and they look breatakingly good on my PS3. Now I have to do the other 3 films. Can't wait to see your "enhanced" versions when they're finished!!!
