I hope Adywan is ok, it"s been awhile since that brother has posted. I like to see his response to the twelve pages about a voice, (already said he was using the original Fett voice), and the spotted eagle that was in the background of scene 323 at take 34, that must be changed to non-spotted, because ILM and Lucasfilm are just stupid. Adywan bring some perspective back to this thread, give us a new trailer or something! Peace...

Fisrt post, apologies if these have been mentioned already, i've looked but haven't seen the following.... While Empire Strikes Back IS the best movie ever, it'd be cool to see a few changes after watching the excellent A New Hope Revisited.

I'd love to see the blinking red light fitting on the exterior of the Falcon fixed as Chewie bumps into it with C-3PO on his back during the escape from Cloud City, damn that thing looks cheap when it comes loose after a little bump.

The Wampas dismembered arm is the wrong size for where it is cut. Annoying.

Can't agree more with returning Boba Fett's voice to the original, how about returning the Slave 1 audio to the original as well? The recycled sound from that Attack of the Clones movie is irritating.

How about a HD release when all is said and done. It would be beautiful.

Here's another mock-up of both the darker Star Destroyer and a Super Star Destroyer that better matches the lighting in the next shot.

Nice. The foreground SD wasn't contrasting enough with the greebles in the other shot. Now it stands out.

Can someone refresh my memory... in that Executor shot... what is the context of the scene? Where is the Imperial fleet supposed to be during that shot?

(ie: a clue as to possible light sources)

PS: Adding filters and such to Temura Morrison's voice just makes him sound like a stormtrooper from Episode II/III, it doesn't make him sound like Boba Fett. Keep the old voice! The demeaner of his lines is off I think... it's as if he forgot he's portraying Boba and was still playing one of the drones in white.

They are sitting around waiting to hear from their probe droids.  The shot I mocked up immediately follows the same SD getting covered by the shadow of the SSD and is immediately before the huge reveal of the full ship.

Well i've had an interesting weekend. A friend of mine was having problems with his PC and asked me if i could check to see if he had assembled it correctly (which he hadn't). But the main thing is that he had a quad core processor in his machine. Because i ahd all weekend before he picked the PC back up i popped the processor in my machine and, oh my god, it flew. I tried out a section of video to see if the processor could cope with it and it didn't grind to a hault, unlike my dual core, when i tried the same thing. What is thing that i tried you may ask? well here's a clue:

OPENING TEST

The file is about 100mb and is a low bitrate, so not what the final quality would be like. It isn't a finished sample (with some FX tweaks needed)but i just had to see if it could do it. The audio is again only a temp track, with a bit that may please GoodMusician, and even though you ahve seen most of the clip before, you haven't seen it like this and it also features the Better Taun Taun facial movements. The colouring is slightly different too. there was still too much blue in the last clip so i reduced it more, without making the snow grey. Much happier with it now

I'll answer some of the questions posted here over the weekend later.

Very nice, Ady. :) When I first heard you were doing ESB, I thought "I'm just going to wait until the final version is released and not look at any spoilers," but I'm too excited for that. I'm watching them all! Haha.

You know, it's not a new thought, of course, but we're so spoiled by these! I popped in my old 'faces' VHS of ESB the other day and it was DISGUSTING! I was shocked at how absolutely terrible it looked. It was like there was a dirty film layer on top of everything. It's hard to explain, but for ezample, I'd watch a Walker moving and the layer of dirt would move with it, like it was painted right on. Very odd. The matting looked awful, too. :p

Oh, and just curious about something: what was wrong with the flames in the probe droid crater?

Looks great (though I still think the guy standing to our right of the Laser Turret looks way too static and similar to the later shot during the battle)!

However the file was pretty jerky on my mac at work here. Anyone else have that issue?

The blinking looks great. And second of all, that was a low bitrate? I didn't even notice. o_0 And even more spectacularly, it's in HD. 0_0 I have never seen Star Wars in HD before, and it looks amazing. Does this mean that an HD version of the Revisited versions might be available? That would be SO AWESOME.

It was jittery on my dual core PC also.  The price we pay for awesome quality.

I have a question (and forgive me for bringing this up again). What is your final word on the spiraling Star Field when the Millennium Falcon goes into Hyperspace? I know you talked about consistency in visuals, but I personally believe that this instance doesn't need any visual tweaking for the sake of continuity. Everything in Star Wars whether it's blasters, lightsabers, space fighters, force effects or sound effects always have their own unique style compared to each other. It's kind of like why all the Hyperspace charging sound effects keep changing from movie to movie.

I know that the spiraling stars are not used in the prequel trilogy, but neither are the stretching stars from the cockpit point of view. And if you look at it from a technical stand point, the spiraling effect is used in 2/3 of the original trilogy! You could try and find a way to incorporate the stretching stars and spiraling star field into the prequels if you ever get around to them (I can think of a way to do the Naboo cruiser from Episode One going into hyperspace easily), kind of like with Jango's voice when he's wearing the helmet.

Believe me. The spiraling Star Field was not an accident that the crew just slapped on there, nor was it something that fans argued about or even disputed about. Heck, Lucas doesn't even have any issues with it! Isn't that a first? And as I've said before, the effect itself is even reproduced in a lot of Star Wars products like in Knights of the Old Republic! And like the movies, it's only reproduced if the circumstances are right. So why not leave it in? It doesn't hurt the story, disrupt the pace or bring up questions on how Hyperspace works. It's just a tiny little awesome element that works on it's own right that really does give it a bigger boost of energy that is not present in a static star field.

Welcome aboard nabakov, I also agrre that the  blinking red light would be a much appreciated fix.

I found the shot you're talking about and I agree the spinning starfield on takeoff looks better. I miss it now... :(
