Let me explain... when I say mixing the voices... I should really say "taking the new recording and making it sound like the old but adding some 'electronic' sound to it.

I havn't mixed the recordings... but now that you mention it, that can work too after some modifications...

I guess my point is to maybe show that there is a third... middle ground. It's not like we're redubbing an ENTIRE film... just a few lines.. and ADY had to redo the sound field for ANH anyway lol...

Just saying if maybe we can take the new lines... maybe toy with them a bit... get them to sound like the old... or mix them slightly... I think maybe we can find a middle ground... that'll both keep cannon, but also appease the crowd lol

I mean, I can see the reasons people want both... but this kidna helps fulfill all reasons...

Is it not sad that in this time, we are more surprised by acts of love than acts of hate?

Oiy mates.... Just because I appreciate the attention to detail from the people on this thread, I was hoping I could get some feedback on a quick scene I'm reworking for AOTC. I've been an editor for about 3 hours now, since I just figured out how to get the files loaded and whatnot. This is my first time ever using "real" editing software and I'd appreciate you guys telling me what you think. Believe me, you'll enjoy it. Especially if you actually want Dooku not to seem like a lame ass.

Wingreen's performance is a lot better indeed. Morrison sounds like he's asleep. However, the original voice could use some reverb or distortion on it. It sounds too clear compared to Vader's voice.

Fett's old voice, 4 life! ;)

adywan, I read what you wrote and here's my 2 cents on the aesthetics of the Imperial TIE fighters:

Frankly, I like the rich, deep blue color (as seen in that shot where we get a horizontal view of the Executor and we see TIEs flying back and forth).

It's beautiful... I think the "everything is matte gray!" Empire color-scheme is so overdone, and it's not supported by the movies themselves (except ANH).

It is interesting though that since 1983, it seems like every portrayal of the TIEs outside the movies has been gray (apart from a couple of toys that were light blue/gray). It's become a brainbug.

Still, I'll take blue/gray over just plain gray anyday. I agree with "normalizing" the colors so they're the same from shot to shot, but not taking away the blue entirely or minimizing it to the point where it might as well be gray.

I don't think it's in any way "jarring" to continuity to "suddenly" have blue TIEs in the last two movies, or that they "look like crap." I'm not asking for the scenes to be blue saturated (I share your distaste for the screw ups of the 2004 editions). However I like the brilliant blue of the Executor fly-bys in ESB 1980. THAT is how they ought to look in the whole movie (regardless of how they are portrayed outside the movies or how the actual models looked).

I am shocked By the amount of hostility towards this post! it seems by the reaction that it is indeed a shut case, and if your opinion veers off the norm that is canon by certain members (you know who you are), bullying and aggressive behaviour is rife.

What a shame as I thought that even on sites like this there is a group of members willing to shout down a voice because it doesn't agree with what they say goes. And anything that isn't what they agree with is beaten down by abuse and aggression.

Don't worry about it. You'll soon realise that on every site, there are too many people who think 'their' opinion is correct.

It's just that you came to a site where not so many people dig the PT, so the  prequel stuff is usually dealt with a loathsome manner (I don't mind them myself).

I'm actually in favour of keeping Fetts original voice. That and the 'Vader's shuttle' crap were the only two real annoyances I had with the SE. Fancy CGI and open windows I could deal with, but the changing of Fett's voice was a big no no.

Don't be put off by the small number of rude people on here....they tend to just go away after a while and play with their next fad.

I like it. I feel that it gives the best of both worlds. Even though I have grown used to TM's delievery and I like it more only for continuity reasons I can see why people like the original delivery better. Thumbs up on the mixing.

Very true, HotRod. However, a word of warning to ladyferry: you might want to leave the room whenever the subjects of snowflakes or grains of sand come up. Shocking!

...Man, I haven't posted here in ages!

As for Boba Fett's voice... all in all, I think Jason Wingreen's performance outdoes Temuera Morrison's in all aspects. As much as I like the work you did to Morrison's voice, GoodMusician, I think just switching whole-sale back to Wingreen is the best option. Of course, that's what I think. What you did was great; the inflections on the word 'dead' could be worked on a little more, though.

Still, I could live with either the retooling of Morrison's voice or just switching to Wingreen's voice, so long as the 'retooling' brings in the menace in Wingreen's tone that is missing in Morrison's.

Of course, Adywan has the final say here. We'll have to wait and see what he thinks on this.

U got that straight!!

Musicman...after listening to your little clippy there, I gotta say "Get the f**k outta here"

Only joking man, still think the original voice is by far the best. But I would say that, he's my great Uncle!

He probably would be a great uncle, but that's a weird comparison to make...

Wait, are you actually related to Wingreen?  That's pretty cool.  If only you were related to Morrison and could convince him to redo his voice for us...

What you could do is record him saying Jango Fett's lines, then we'd have Wingreen doing all of the masked Fetts!

Also, voices, I hate to correct whoever said this...ARE genetic. Seeing as vocal chords are created by our genes, and those truly are what affect our sound, in a way it IS genetic. On top of that, it can also be influenced by our upbringing. Accents aren't genetic lol.

GM, voices are genetic, but accents are not. Even though Boba had a Kiwi accent until Jango died, he would most likely lose it as he grew older and was exposed to different accents.Children are especially adaptive when it comes to languages and accents.

That said, I do think your attempt to alter Morrison's voice is interesting. But I prefer the original Wingreen voice.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

you pretty much repeated what I said.. lol...

Voices are genetic... accents are not. But usually accents are fully developed into a person by that age... unless they're trying consciously to remove it. I had a brittish accent as a child... but I was born in Florida and NO ONE has that accent in my family... I eventually lost most inklings of it... but I still have trouble saying certain words and have a preference to saying words with an english twist. Like, it's not a-dult... it's Ah-dult... I don't say gair-age though lol

It's hard to say. You could argue either way... without knowing the history of Boba, I would say that he was close to his father, and that wouldn't want to remove himself from his father by getting rid of his accent. But we could create a whole story line for why he changes it... lol

I've already been tempted once to write Expanded Universe for Revisited (like how did that Battle Droid get to the Sandcrawler?), don't make me think more about it.  It'd also be interesting to learn more about the planet the Death Star is orbiting in ANHR, what was it called?

For some reason, in my mind I have been calling it "Had Abbadon" which I believe is the Imperial capital in early drafts of ROTJ. I don't know why but that just popped into my head when I first watched "revisited"!

It was called Despayre, and was featured in the novel 'Death Star' recently.

Actually, the planet is called Ganleigh III. It's a name Adywan created from the names of his 3 daughters. See post 2401 in the Episode IV thread.

Sometimes things just can't be explained. Like that Daihatsu pickup truck I saw 15 years ago in New Brunswick, Canada. What?! My mind was thoroughly boggled, I can assure you.

I was taking screenshots for ImperialFighter, and I noticed something:

That shot of the Star Destroyer underneath the Executor that isn't shadowed is the same shot of the Star Destroyer that gets hit by the ion cannon, but its shadowed in that shot!

Maybe the element from the Hoth shot would be better suited for under the Executor.
