Unfortunately, I've found that many modern blockbusters do not deserve the credit they so desperately crave and feel they are worthy of. This past summer, for example, had nearly 5 bad movies for every on good or near decent flick. Of course, there are the exceptions like Pirates or LOTR or X-Men. But so many blockbusters are style over substance and even the style has been lacking a bit. Indies have been the way to go lately. Some still suck, yes. And the independent route is the means for a lot of crap that shouldn't be out there to get out there. But I'll take a Whale Rider over a Charlie's Angels anytime.
