It got pulled.  If it sold, it would be listed as a "completed item" for 90 days.

So do you think the seller will be receiving a friendly visit from the LFL lawyers asking for their print back?

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

These people ought to be smart and keep all sales private, not on auction sites.

The Star Wars trilogy. There can be only one.

Why am i not surprised.

Luca$ wants to keep the original version out of collector's hands.

Bfi and Afi prints are also out of his hands. as well as the library of congress.

Otherwise he would have them destroyed.

I feel the same way Lucas does about the holiday special as i do the special editions and the prequels.  All the dvds should be smashed to bits and burned.  The oneg and prints ot the special editions should be altered back to the original cuts, and any thing else should be destroyed.  All the added cgi belongs in the trim bins not the original scenes.

Ebay only seems to bother enforcing such policies when someone with clout actually complains. (There are several 35mm features on there right now.) Between this and that "make your own SW crawl" site getting scuttled, I'm getting paranoid about who else is reading our posts! ;)

That other auction is interesting. Note the early version of the Star Wars logo. But why would the trailer be black and white?

if that was actually true, why even bother making the bonus dvd discs with the original versions?

sorry, i don't see any conspiracy here...

these aren't the films you're looking for, move along....

Do you guys have the ability to scan 35mm film?  I know my Epson scanner can do 35mm film... and I totally would if someone needed me to.  (Of course it only does one frame at a time so it would take FOREVER)

negative1, do you or anyone else remember the username of the seller? Even though the listing was removed, the guy probably still has it and you can always send a message through eBay.

Is someone going to bid on that trailer? I kinda wanna see it... I even would if no one else wants to.  (Provided it stays at a low price... it's not worth that much to me)

there are 2 star wars 16mm clips up on ebay and 2 16mm clips of empire as i type this.

They all do appear to be faded. They also appear to be pan and scan as if they were ment for television.

That looks very interesting.  I have no way of scanning it, myself, but it's short enough that it shouldn't be very expensive to pay someone to scan it. Heck, it looks so short that it might be scannable by hand (although that doesn't work for the sound).  It might be worth asking the seller if he has any further information about it.

Yeah, I was thinking the exact same thing when the "SW crawl" site shut down. It happened almost immediately after the thread was started. I often wonder if there are Lucasfilm moles here, keeping an eye on us...........**looks around**    LOL!

yes, i'm bidding on the trailer,

and yes i've already contacted the seller, and he's written

me back with an offer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

however, there's a small chance that he'll put it up

for bidding again...... so i've given him my highest

bid, and told him i will just buy it outright, since

i can't bid from work..

will let everyone know what happens later today..

fingers crossed...

(and no, i'm not forgetting that SKot won't be getting

a copy if i do manage to get it, unless there is an apology,

or some help in restoring it)

I'd really love to see this one.  I've never seen a trailer that features the 'pointed w' logo.  Part of me wonders if this trailer might have anything odd in it.  Like the almost mythical 'missed grappling hook throw' scene.

I just got a response from the owner and he says he doesn't know how long it is but there is a shot of leia french kissing chewie in it.  Looking forward to that.

Was going to bid on it but if one of you guys does, then forget it.

It does say "partial trailer" in the description, which makes me think it's incomplete. :(

Can 35mm film fade completely to black and white?

I wonder if this is something Kurtz could have shown at the world sceince fiction convention in 1976?

I wonder because i have seen pre release projector slides for star wars show up on ebay before.

No, it would fade to pink.

When I first looked at it, I thought maybe it was one of those "film strips" they used to show in school- but it wouldn't have all those duplicate frames.

Maybe it is for a slide projector, and the frames were supposed to be cut out and mounted? It must be an early one because of that old pointed "w".

I'm curious as to whether or not there are any other images on it or just the one we're seeing.

It's definitely not the Star Wars filmstrip. And filmstrips do not have optical soundtracks.

 don't start the celebrations yet..

they still have to get back to me with the final price,

how to send the money, insurance etc....maybe no

news is good news..

the much bigger problem will be what to do with it,

if we do get it, since no commercial place would touch

this with a 10 foot pole..

I didn't even see the sdtk- I thought it was a shadow.

I guess it's not a strip of slides then, either.
