I'm not sure if he still posts here but Booshman once did some excellent artwork for a possible STM RIC project. It was heavily inspired by the SII RIC artwork so he might be worth getting in touch with.

Just wanted to let everyone know that this project is still progressing.

Hi Everyone,

The project is finally getting a new name. After carefull consideration and deliberation ~wink~ the new name for the Restored International Cut project is:

*drum roll*

the Restored KCOP Cut  or -RKC- for short

Our intension is to still book-end the RIC Superman II. The reason for this change from RIC to RKC is because the version that we are restoring is the KCOP broadcast in L.A. We do not want to cause confusion with the RIC Superman II as well. We understand that the international salkind cut is the same as the KCOP broadcast but this is the way it was released in America on television and we wanted to preserve that action.

We need HELP!

Again, if there is anyone that had ability to could create a pictures (for the menu) that are on par with the Superman II RIC menu contact us. 

We would really like to book-end that specific release. So if there is anyone out there that can help, please do so.

Thanks for working so hard on this!  It will be supercool to see the results.  I have been reading Christopher Reeve's autobiography, "Still Me".  This RKC project has been foremost on my mind.

I too am interested in seeing your results.  You might know some years back I did a similar project using the versions I had in hand.  Long story short...whatever theatrical or TV versions I used I utilized in a way where the theatrically released footage was in letterbox, the TV footage in full screen,  and in many cases, in stereo (many of the TV footage scenes where music was restored I remixed in stereo).

Will your new version also be in stereo (for the most part)?

Again, I'd like to see your new version when it's done.

We are discussing whether to have it in Stereo. The whole point of the project is to recreate the KCOP viewing of the film. (which would be in mono)

With the right software, it is technically possible to create an alternate track with the stereo, or at least a mono/stereo hybrid.  My last attempt at recreating the RKC/SIC had both mono (for the TV scenes) and stereo (for the theatrically released scenes), which is what my intention was anyway.

We will probably go with a dual AUDIO track - one Mono and one STEREO.

This is a high-quality video of the original ABC promos and intro for the broadcast premiere of "Superman" in 1982. Whoever posted this just might have the complete original ABC telecast of the network version in the quality the video clip was in. This is not the Salkind cut, but the 183-minute ABC version that was derived from the Salkind cut.

As you already have heard someone else is restoring Superman KCOP also.  But we really do not care if his is better as we are not in a competition.  Good for him though!

Who else is restoring the Kcop i thought you were the only one.

As this is the only thread on these boards you must be mentioning something elsewhere.

The famous and GREAT editor Alex S. from the Supermancinema boards says he is gonna start his restoration of SUPERMAN - THE MOVIE finally. This BIG NEWS comes years after he originally began talking about it.  The word is was that he had heard someone else was doing it and wanted in on the action. He has better transfers (1st gens copies of all the film, Beta transfers, original ABC transfers, etc... etc...etc... ) they are better than any of mine. I couldn't possibly top the great ALEX S. in anything releated to Superman. The guy simply is the number one Superman fan ever and that is no lie. He said to even have an original copy of the master from the Tv cut to use on his restoration. So this will be a true restoration.

However, we are still gonna create ours. We are in this for the fun of it! I am happy that he is finally gonna do it I was tired of waiting.  The wating was the main reason why we started ours.  Good for him!

As far as our edit goes, we are working on it as I type. I am so looking forward to finally having a clean cut of the film. Keep in mind that our edit will be majorily inferior to the great Alex s.

Hope everyone stays interested in our edit. If you are interested, however, in a real restoration head on over to supermancinema and check out Alex S.

Just a little update to share with you all...I am contributing a bit to Mitch's "Superman" project.  I just sent him my copy of my composite version of the Salkind/KCOP edit (widescreen and full frame hybrid) so he can use it as a reference so he can know exactly which edits (sound and visual) to follow.  I also sent him MP3 files of the complete "Superman" score from various CD releases (especially the Rhino issue) so he can construct both stereo and mono soundtracks accordingly.  One thing to be noted...the "Destruction of Krypton" and "Lex Luthor's Lair" sequences in the TV version have restored cues out of place.  Those few who have seen my version will recognize their appropriate place in the film.

With Mitch's permission...anyone with high quality sources that can be used in this latest fan edition (this includes any TV trailers or any other misc. material on "Superman" not represented on the official DVDs) are encouraged to come forward.  I have done my part...I hope you will do yours.

I have the Superman Blue Box Soundtrack Collection... I could provide anything from that. The source for the score of "Superman The Movie" in this collection is different to the older release. Better quality.
