this is for Kurgan who is having problems with his account and can't post in this site.
the TIEs will NOT be grey. They change colour so many times throughout the movie i am having to bring them all back to grey then adding the blue/grey tint to match the correct colouring of the model used in filming ESB & ROTJ. The saturation of the TIEs was boosted in composition in ESB to bring out the blue but in many shots they boosted it too much and it became an unnatural colour, not matching the actual models.

Though honestly if he's the type who'd seriously decide it'd be a good idea to make TIE fighters in ESB white (the TIEs in SW are white only to resolve technical issues with blue screen photography: the fighters were originally supposed to be blue) then maybe he's not entirely the best sort of person to be helming a project like this. You'd think he would have done the research to prove him wrong.

well maybe if you had done your research when Kurgan posted a link to this thread you would have seen that i addressed this issue ages ago here when i first mentioned the colouring (although i did forget to mention that they weren't going to be entirely grey). i do know what i am talking about. i did a lot of reasearch for ANH:R and have a vast amount of reference behind the scenes clips & photos of the actual models used for filming and have already mentioned the reason why the TIEs were a different colour in ANH and that was due to an older blue screen technique that they had to have the TIE models white to stop them becoming transparent due to their colouring clashing with the blue screen. hence their white/ grey colouring. But when it came to ESB the bluescreen technology had advanced and the colouring could be returned, but boosted too much just because they could now show off that they could introduce blue to compositing. you can check out the different colouring of the TIE fighers used here:

there are major colouring issues with the TIEs, thanks to the damn colouring in the 2004 DVD set, but also in the GOUT as they are completely grey in some shots and the TIE bombers change colour too. some of the TIEs are actually almost purple in the 2004 version so i have to eliminate any colouring first before i can return them to their correct modelling colour. The correct colour is a light blue/grey and that's the colour they will be in this edit
Don't worry Kurgan, just because you can't voice your opinions here, you were a great supporter of ANH:R and i do still listen to you even if you are in a galaxy far, far away. :)
also there won't be any stardestroyers in the atmosphere in any of the bespin sequences. they belong in space. although we do see the earlier versions landing and taking off in the PT they are different ships, to me, and smaller in size so maybe could travel in and out of the atmosphere but not stardestroyers and they never will in any of my edits.
i'll reply to you posts, GoodMusician, a bit later once i have a chance to view your clips
