Maybe it won't be that bad to try to recut the Extended Versions back to Theatrical Versions, because the japanese Discs aren't not that good.

Here is a comparison between different Death Proof DVD releases.
And Here a comparison between different Planet Terror DVDs.
As you can see the Cinematic Grindhouse Versions are very ugly.
