Very sad, he was THE special effects dude.

I was just reading about him yesterday.

War does not make one great.

There's a book that came out recently, Inside the Stan Winston Studio or something like that; I saw it in the bookstore and was going to buy it but at the last minute I chickened out and put it back on the shelf. When I came home I found out he was dead. :( Maybe I should go back and buy that book....

This really made my day pretty lousy...

I became aware of him and his work since I was 7, and now this... it's really really sad.

Many people seem to keep dying in 2008. Tragic.

I remember hearing his name a lot around when Jurassic Park was coming out. I was 7 years old at the time and hardcore into dinosaurs and this dino-masterpiece just happens to get released. It was toys, books (was too young for the original book tho) and TV specials at all times and I learned about Stan and the groundbreaking stuff for JP. His name pretty much became synonymous with guaranteed excellent effects in my book...as well as so many others I'd guess.

This sucks tho. He still could have made awesome and original effects for 10-15 years. Damn diseases.

Hey look, a bear!
