1. The original version has the Rebel fleet hyperspace out immediately before the end credits. Follow-up versions (THX re-release, Special Edition and DVD) all cut to the end credits before the hyperspace jump.

IMDB seems to be the only source on this, as no one I've seen in other threads can produce the evidence or video that the fleet ever went into hyperspace. I need to see if my dad still has the original CBS-FOX VHS copies of ESB and RotJ and see if this is true. I grew up on those copies though, and I don't remember that.

I just had to check, because I remembered the jump too.
On my copy from the Definitive Collection, the scene ends in a radial wipe to end credits. On my OOT-tape (recorded from TV, my THX tape was lost to a hungry VCR), it is a straight cut. The wipe sure reminds of a hyperspace jump, and I guess that it was the intended effect.

You know what? I think you were right. I would have bet the farm that the fleet went into hyperspace but I just went back to my CBS/FOX set and sure enough, it ALMOST seems like they jump. In fact though, its the very very quick iris in wipe that threw me. I was so certain but its been a few years since I've even put those in the VCR. I humbly stand corrected.

Its amazing though that we're all nitpicking the color corrections and what-not. I grew up watching the CBS/FOX versions and remember thinking how clear Jedi looked compared to ANH (which of course was just STAR WARS back then). When the THX versions came out, I was so broke I couldn't afford them and I caught about 20 minutes of it at a friend of a friend's house. I was STUNNED at how much better they looked. I was obsessed with finding the money to buy them. But today, it hurts my eyes to even look at a VCR tape. I have a 50' Plazma 1080 and have become so accustomed to high quality that even ANH:R bugs me cause I don't have it in Full HD. How spoiled my son will be. He actually knows a little bit about the differences of ANH:R and keeps asking me "When is that man going to make the new Empire Strikes back?" He's only 6 and he's becoming a Star Wars geek just like his dear ol' dad. I was only 5 when ESB came out and I've been hooked ever since. Its weird to think that he'll never know what it was like all those years just imagining what the prequels would be like and when they would ever come. He'll always know the prequels, clone wars, live action show, comics, books, etc etc. There was a time that all we really had were 6 hours of the same movies over and over. Sure, there were the old Marvel comics and the Han Solo books but that wasn't enough and were sub-par at best. I remember the dry spell of the late 80's and early 90's. That was terrible for Star Wars Fandom. ANY speck of new things was examined and reexamined because there was nothing else. AND THEN.... Timothy Zahn. I'm not a huge huge fan of the books but they ushered in a new era. They were okay in my opinion but the fact that there were 3 big books and the series was taken very serious made them golden in my eyes. Then Darkhorse made their adaptations and it just snowballed from there.

This rant was brought about by watching my old tape. I just love these movies because they remind me of different times in my life that I'd love to hold onto forever. I don't understand exactly why I love them so much and may never have a good answer. I do know, that the work being done here means a lot to me and to every member of this board. We're not jealous of Ady because he has the skills to do what most of us do not, we're enthralled that our Fandom has someone in it with the same affection for this as we do but has the skills to do what we all daydream about. I'm not going to give you any more kudos because I've done it in the past, but I will say that if you somehow decide to follow through with your cruel (oh so cruel) April's Fool's charade or maybe keel over dead, or get hit by a herd of jackalopes, or maybe get married to a Trekkie who has you P-whipped and makes you try and do "Star Trek 4: The Voyage Home : Revisited" instead of doing this project, then I will learn very quickly how to do this shit myself. This NEEDS to be done. "ImperialFighter" cracks me up because he's so damn detail oriented that he makes me seem almost like an amateur Star Wars enthusiast. HE needs this. I need this. We all need this.

I hate the internet sometimes but never when I come here.
