Star Tours 2.0: A Podrace....

Yes, it's true. Star Tours is to be replaced (by 2010 they say) with a similar styled ride - with a twist: it's going to be a podrace. At least, so far, that's what we know - they could have changed it by now.

I should've said that. Star Tours was the one ride my mom could stand going on thousands of times when I was little, back when we'd go to Disneyland at least once a month.

While I DO like podracing (the videogames are fun and it reminds me of Oban Star-Racers) I don't like a childhood memory being replaced. This'll be what the prequels were for you guys: a bastardization.

Damn. I'm sure it will be dizzing and fun, but a stupid CG-filled podrace just can't compare to flying with X-wings and attacking a Star Destroyer and then the Death Star. Another one bites the dust.

i remember hearing about this years ago, but nothing ever came of it. hmmmm. It'll suck to see the old star tours go. that was a neat ride & it was done with models like the classic trilogy. It just won't be the same seeing the PT invade that awesome ride.

If they have to replace it, then they should go back to their original idea and just add new "tours" and let people choose which one they want to go on depending which speeder they get into. I've been to both Star Tours - FL and CA - and both had a few speeders, so it wouldn't be impossible for them to run different tours on each speeder. it would also give people a reason to go on the ride more than once in the same day for some reason other than just "doing it again".

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

****. This was the only attraction I ever wanted to see if I ended up in Disneyland.

If they keep going in that direction, why don't they replace Mickey Mouse? "It's soooo old-fashioned", too :(
And to be frank with you, I've once glimpsed Donald Duck yelling "Sieg Heil!"... do I need to add anything more?
I saw the original theatrical release of the Old Trilogy on the big screen and I'm proud of it...
How did I accomplish that (considering my age) is my secret...

I heard this rumor 8 or 9 years ago. Still, I'm disappointed it may still have legs.

Georgo Lucas in 2011: "I was never happy with the original Star Tours ride. Now I've had the time to go back and recreate the ride according to my original vision. I'm sorry if you fell in love with the original version, but that ride no longer exists anymore. It's dead to me."

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

Despite it being a wiki page, I've seen other sources. Too lazy to look em up though. I hope that they do the multi-tour thing that they've always advertised as a joke, though; that would be fun.

Maybe because Mickey Mouse is iconic of Disneyland? And the old Donald Duck Sieg Heil thing is from an old classic Disney cartoon. I'm pretty sure it was done as satire (that hasn't stopped it from being taken out of context though) and that it will never see the light of day outside of fan preservations. Much like Song of the South may never see the light of day.

...Crap! Now I got to go through the whole 5 stages of a Death thing again!!

Star Tours can not be closing! I will not hear of it! NEVAR!

That's it screw George Lucas and, his new visions. He makes Star Tours dead!? Well, then he's dead to me!

What a sec, if he's dead his last project will probably go through afterwards. Damn it. I don't want him dead I just want him to not take away Star Tours! Can't he just give us Star Tours!? Please. I'll make a petition!

*sigh* Nevermind, the petition wouldn't have the years needed to work. . . To save Star Tours it'de take something faster... What's the point?

Well, something was bound to take the ride away from us. If not George Lucas, then time or, weather would've been the enemy... *sigh*

Okay, I went through the five stages..... Yet, I'm back to anger again.... Thought that was supposed to be a cure all damn it!
