Hi all,
I'm really sorry to not have this out yet. I'm still here, though. Between a variety of things (construction on our house, a missing dub for Jar-Jar, and no person like Adywan to help out on the mix), things have just not been going well at all on my end.
I have sent it to TJdavis, editor on the cancelled "Reborn" project, so I might be hearing from him soon.
To be honest, I am so disappointed that this isn't done yet that I'm about to just give up and send everybody rough cuts. At least you know what I had planned. But the rough cut is bad- my dubbing is bad on that version. Jar-Jar also doesn't mesh very well.
But one way or another, you will see this in some form or another. And if this is not completely finished by mid-September, I would be happy to pass it to someone else to finish it. I have an entire 150 GB external hard drive filled with material from this movie. If anyone is interested in finishing it, just let me know and you can send me your external hard drive, and I'll load everything onto it. I use Windows and the project is in Vegas 5.0.
Again, this movie feels so close to completion. Everything is there (again, besides a possible new Jar-Jar dub and a couple lines in one of the deleted scenes). It's just a handful of visual tweaks (like blurring out lightsabers in the background of a couple shots in the arena, like the "Phantom Editor" did, only in higher-res).
And the audio must be completely finished. I am having trouble mixing my voice correctly. This has always been an issue. Looking over it more objectively now, it's possible that perhaps it's not working because I'm trying to force my own voice upon the Hayden Christiansen character. Maybe it would be better served with a different voice, another voice actor? Maybe then things would go more quickly, and the quality would improve?
Either way, I haven't given up; I'm just very frustrated and I also don't have all of the elements yet that I need to work with. I would like to thank the guy that did the spanish subtitles for me. I really appreciate that and I know that I'll be able to use them.
Anyway, thanks for following this project, for anybody that still is. The movie still excites me; I can watch it and look past the dubbing flaws with my own voice, and when I just watch the rest of it for what it is, it comes across as absolutely thrilling and gripping. I almost can't believe such a formerly bad movie could become so interesting. It's the sound. It's the voices I'm struggling with.
Are you all still interesting in seeing a new clip?
